My Favorite State Flags

+3

Hi guys! This is actually my first blog, I've been planning to make one but never gotten around to it, but I figured with the new blog update that I would do one. Today, I'll be showing you my top 10 favorite US state flags!

10. Oklahoma

This flag is nice and honors the Native American history of the state. It would rank much higher without the text though.

9. Rhode Island

The design of this flag is nice and the anchor on it makes me think of the beauty of the Rhode Island coast. I also like how it is a square. The colors are kind of bland though.

8. Texas

Texas' flag is nice and follows all the principles of designing a good flag but is a little generic.

7. California

This flag is cool and honors the history of California. Normally I don't like text on flags, but on this it honors it's original flag as an independent republic.

6. Maryland

Maryland's flag is complex and weird but somehow still manages to be a good flag.

5. Alaska

This flag just looks good and with Polaris and Big Dipper on it honors its northern location.

4. Colorado

The colors and shapes on Colorado's flag are all simple but recognizable. For some reason I don't like the C though, and some mountains would look good on it.

3. South Carolina

The palmetto and crescent just look nice and honor the history of South Carolina in the revolutionary war.

2. Arizona

The colors and patterns on Arizona's flag are just beautiful. I like how the bottom half is a solid color and the top has rays moving out, like a sunset over the ocean. I don't know why the ocean, since Arizona isn't on the ocean, but it looks nice.

1. New Mexico

New Mexico has my favorite flag by far. The colors compliment each other well, and they and the symbol in the middle represent the natives of New Mexico. Plus, the symbol just looks super cool.

And the worst flag award goes to...

All the flags that are literally just the state seal on a navy background!

Thanks for reading!

I agree with most of these picks but I'd probably take Wyoming over Rhode Island because of the missing yellow side. It just frustrates me.

I do think it needs the extra yellow side but it looks better actually flying.

Why? You say my favorite state has the worst U.S.State Flag? Montana has the worst U.S. State Flag...

They are not randomly arranged. Heard of constellations?

turnbacktwo -

The stars are arranged in the pattern of the Big Dipper constellation. (It's not exactly a constellation but that's a different story...)

The size of the top right star is to signify the North Star.

I personally love the colors of the flag, and I love the simplicity.

...but that's just my opinion.
