A record breaking day for Formula 1

+1

its official, Lewis Hamilton is now the most successful driver of all time in terms of race wins. Its been a long time coming, he broke Schumacher's record for most poles at the Belgian Grand Prix in 2017, Broke the record for most podiums earlier this year at the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix and now he holds the record for most wins after a dominant performance at the 2020 Portuguese Grand Prix. Now I'm not a fan of Hamilton, I never have been and I never will be but I think its important that we all put our opinions to one side and appreciate what we are witnessing. I think that straight from his rookie season in 2007, people knew this guy was special and sure enough, 13 years later he holds almost every record there is. Its funny to think that just as recently as 2017, the record of 91 seemed untouchable and yet here we are. 92 wins for Hamilton, and this certainly isn't the end. There has been a lot of conspiracies that Hamilton won't be continuing after 2020 but personally I don't see this happening. But lets say he does hang up his helmet at the end of this year, he will most likely win the races in turkey, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi and the race in Imola and the second race in Bahrain will be exciting to watch. but thats probably another 3 wins at least. So lets say 95 wins. thats an incredible achievement to retire to, and by then he will have won his 7th title so he would go down as the most susscesful driver in pretty much every aspect of F1. what does this leave for the future and for other drivers? well its clear that to become the most successful driver in terms of wins, you need to be winning races from a really young age, any drivers on the current grid come to mind? Max Verstappen of course. Its easy to forget but he is only 23 years old, and if he can get a car as competitive as Hamilton has, I think max will one day break the record. But thats just me speculating about what might happen in the future
