Living in the Same Moment #1

Hello, I decided to write a suspenseful story. I can't promise a sequel, but let me know if you like it!

A flash...Clap Bore Bum Bum. Just half a second. Surely by now the storm had reached the city gates. CLAP. Both louder and faster this time. I didn't want to turn on the news. I couldn't take the pain...the memories of when Father died. CLAP.

I opened the old sliding glass window and took a peek outside. The wind tore away my Seattle hat. In an instant, I had lost everything. That hat was my life, my motivation. Gone for good. Gone. I tried to catch it, but it instead flew in the opposite direction. Directly past my head.

I wheeled around and saw a monster running towards me. It was a field of grey blanketing a land of blue. Grey streaks circled the monster, who clawed up every tree, property, and life within its reach. As it funneled towards me, it started to dance. The monster shoot speedy white tendrils of destruction to smash into the Earth.

I had to leave. Fast. But I couldn't. My legs refused to cooperate. Instead, I gaped at the site. I let it continue to race towards me, menacing me with his tendrils. Finally, one burst of light lit my house in flames. I collapsed to my knees, praying. Mercy! Please mercy! What have I done?

"Sir, what do you think you are doing?"

My vision began to clear. I was kneeling in the middle of a highway. A male police officer stared over me. Then everything soaked in. I was in no storm. This was the third time this had happened since Father had passed.

"Um...please don't report this!"

And with that, my embarrassed self sprinted to the car and slammed the door. I hit the gas hard and swerved around the backed-up traffic, leaving a shocked officer in my wake. After a couple minutes of going fifteen miles over the speed limit, I looked in my mirror. The angry policeman was hot on my tail, and calling for backup by the looks of it.

I put more pressure on the pedal and randomly merged at the nearest exit. This diversionary tactic failed, as he still continued to casually hunt me down like a boa constrictor whose prey was already surrounded. One thought lead to another, and I realized my error. The officer did have me surrounded!

Several county police cars blocked off the entire intersection I had planned to turn on. This left only a single option. I had to go back the way I came. After slowing down to nearly ten miles per hour, I took a dangerous swerve in an attempt to provoke the policeman to follow me. For once tonight, I succeeded.

Right as they all reached a critical speed, I took another 180 back to the intersection. They however could not do the same, because they were coming up on the original officer. I parked my car a bit past the turn and dove into the bushes right before they caught up. They quickly left their vehicles to search the area.

The one nearest to me was far from his car, so I quietly crept around and hopped to the drivers seat. I breathed a sigh of relief when I noticed the keys still lied in the wheel. Going at a slow speed, I managed to completely leave the officers without any noticing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After sleeping in the car at a gas station for only two hours. I randomly woke up. CLAP. I screamed. The whole thing- it was all happening all over again.
