What is JetPunk In A Nutshell?

+1

Luck. To put it down to one word, luck. I’ve been making quizzes for a couple months. Some good, some bad, but it doesn’t really matter. It all comes down to how lucky you get in this. You could make the best quiz the website has ever seen, and get 10 takes. Heck, you could get 0. It compares to a lot of things, like, you could have a beautiful voice, and make 5 albums, and have a fan base of a 100 people. This is a short post, but I just was pointing out what JetPunk truly is. Luck.

I totally disagree with it...

It's also about the audience your quiz will get. I have seen many high quality quizzes with only 10 takes, because they are too niche. Luck doesn't have much to do with it.

If you are trying to point out that some quizzes that deserve a feature aren’t featured, I completely agree. However, I also notice that a lot of these users are angry that Quizmaster gets all his quizzes featured by himself. What i tell them is to go through all of QM’s quizzes, and find one that isn’t feature-quality. (I am not trying to imply that you are one of those people, but I’m just pointing this out)

And if you don't title your quiz in a good way, no one will click on it, so I think that's part of it

@ThatOneGuy that only works on YouTube.

But what people see is only the title, and if the title seems uninteresting to them, they won't even bother looking at the quiz

But if the quiz is "clickbait" when they click on it, they won't take it. Hence if there is a clickbait video on YouTube, they will click on it and the clickbaiter will automatically get views. What you're saying is basically like a quizmaker automatically getting a take once a user clicks on the quiz.

Actually, you have to watch a certain amount of the video for it to count as a view. That's why when videos are newly released, there are more likes than views.

I’m not talking about clickbait. I’m saying if u make ur title confusing or sumtin

@BelgiumFries, many YouTubers put ads at the beginning of their videos. In order to watch the video, the user has to watch an ad, which is the primary source of revenue for YouTubers. Even though ad blockers are on the rise, a vast majority of people watch these ads.

What ThatOneGuy25 is saying is that if you have a good quiz but you give it a really confusing name, no one will take it.

Even if you title it well, if the content is bad, then people just won’t take it after they click on it.

And if the content is great, but the title is bad, it still won’t be taken even tho it’s a great quiz

Basically, if you have a bad title, people won't click on it and thus won't see the quiz, even if it's a great quiz.

The more skill you have, the better your quizzes. The better your quizzes, the more people will like it. The more people like it, the more people subscribe to you. The more people who subscribe to you, the more takes your new quizzes get.

I think that quizzes need three things to get attention: a good topic, cool formatting, and they can't be too easy or too hard. Pick topics that a broad range of people are interested in, for example, Geography. Topics such as bobsledding aren't as popular, which means lesser and lesser people will take your quizzes, making the chance that people take your quizzes less. Cool formatting can make people enjoy your quizzes better. Plus, people don't like taking too easy or too hard quizzes. So for typing all the letters of the alphabet, 10 seconds would be good. But for all subdivisions of the world, anything from 30 minutes to an hour would be good. So the timing is a judgment call, but it should be a little generous, but not too much.

There is maybe an element of luck, but that only contributes about 5% at most. The rest is down to quality. That is my opinion at least, others may differ.

Although there does seem to be this mindset amongst some that they are making quizzes for likes / recognition / subscriptions / etc. Jetpunk isn't Facebook / Youtube / Instagram / insert other social media here.

Personally, I make quizzes to satisfy myself that I am still mentally capable and to keep my brain active. Also I learn something new everyday, a piece of trivia will pop up while I am compiling a quiz and that sends me off into research of a subject I know nothing about.

If you're a smaller quizmaker, there's probably a reason why. Geography quizzes are usually a good way to get takes, but you have to make original quizzes. Making another Countries of the World Quiz or US States Quiz won't get you takes because there's one that already exists, but something like "Every County in Nebraska" won't really get you many takes either. You need to find the middle ground, where you make something where people know what the quiz will be about, that they might be able to do it and that it might be interesting. If you make quizzes in more niche topics, you're only going to get people who are interested in the same things that you are. I'm certainly one of those people. Also, "the best quiz the website has ever seen" is extremely subjective. I personally could think that a word puzzle quiz is the best quiz on JetPunk, but someone else could think that the best quiz is a quiz about baseball players. What I'm saying is that it's not about luck.

If you make good quizzes about subjects people know a lot about, you'll probably get a good number of takes. That number only grows and grows. If you make original quizzes, you'll be taking more of a gamble, but at the minimum, you'll have a good, original idea. If you make quizzes on subjects that have a smaller following (say, algebra), you'll get fewer takes. It's about luck, but it's mostly about skill.

Honestly you're not that wrong. To me it took patience. I started in 2016 and didn't get a single feature until 2019 after about 3 years of accumulating some attention. So all I gotta say is you're gonna have to learn pretty fast that unless you knock it out of the park with some innovative idea, it's gonna take a long time so buckle up.

Well, thank you for the feedback on this post everyone. Many more responses than I could have ever thought. Some of the comments were extremely helpful and I will take them into account as to continue quizmaking, although I am doing lots of other things at the moment.
