ALL ABOUT WOODROW WILSON

Brought to you by MrBlogger

Who is Woodrow Wilson?

Woodrow Wilson and the American flag

Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924), was a famous, 2-term president of the United States during World War I and president of the Princeton University. He was very smart and had a hard-working life. He left us with lots of interesting quotes and stories, let's learn.

Early Life

Go Tigers!

Woodrow Wilson was born into a small home in Staunton, Virginia. Their family was very religious, as his father is a Presbyterian minister. Not many important things happened in their household of 4 children...till Wilson went to college at the prized, Princeton University in the late 1880s. After that, he decided to study law. If the law wasn't enough, he moved forward and studied medics. People realized his talent, and in 1902, he became the President of Princeton University (this will show up in a lot of trivia shows so that's that :). Oh, forgot to say that he married Ellen Louis Axson.

Governor, then President!

What a cool artifact!

Woodrow Wilson was elected Governor of New jersey in 1911 and ended in 1913...because he became president. He beat William H Taft, getting most of the states in his side while going on some campaigns. Woodrow Wilson worked on reforms at the beginning of his presidency, like passing laws to stop monopolies, etc.

But then...yeah...World War I came. As you may have known, America was mostly neutral in World War I, until the sinking of the American, non - combated ship, the Lusitania. He quickly sent soldiers to Europe, supported by his 14 points. The US became successful, and everyone liked him, but after the war was over, Woodrow wanted the league of nations to form, but the US didn't like that. He ended the presidency with a sad time.

End of life and Remembrance

Woodrow Wilson was struggling with asthma, strokes, and the flu. On February 3, 1924, former President Woodrow Wilson passed away. He is remembered as the hard-working president who coped with World War I.

There are many monuments across the country dedicated to him including lots in his home state.
