Web Browsers Explained

+10

Intro

During this pandemic that we are currently in, we have used our devices way too much. The only two ways to access programs, games, and websites are either to use an app or a web browser. The vast majority of us use web browsers. Today, I will be exploring the different web browsers, covering Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. By the way, I can't do Safari because I can't download it. I will give more information in the comments. If you have an opinion about Safari, let me know about it in the comments. Anyways, I will talk about my experiences with the browser and some features of the browser. I will also put a download link on all browsers. To be clear: none of the companies are sponsoring this article. So, let's get into the first web browser.

Microsoft Edge

Download

Microsoft Edge is a perfect browser for those who don't care about style or speed. As it is the default browser for Windows computers (like the one I use), it was the first one I used for about a year, until January 2020, when I switched to Chrome. As you can probably expect, this browser is best for those who use Microsoft applications, such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Presentations. Here are two screenshots I took of the New Tab page (with personal details blurred out). The default homepage is simple; it isn't crowded but isn't empty.

Microsoft Edge is better than some browsers, but I am not a big fan of it, mostly because I like using Google applications, and it is much harder to get to them on Edge. Speaking of Google...

Google Chrome

Download

Google Chrome is perfect for those that use Google applications, such as Google Docs. You can access these applications by clicking the nine dots on the homepage and any Google application. The style and background are much better than many of the other browsers. Also, there are great features such as tab groupings and a reading list. Plus, extensions are much easier to find on Chrome than on any other browser. Finally, it is much easier to interact with others because Chrome is the most popular internet browser. As you can probably tell, I am a big fan of Chrome. So are most of the people in the Jetpunk Discord.

However, there are a few downsides to it. I am not a very big fan of the homepage. I like Opera's much better. Furthermore, I am not a big fan of the fact that my school has it, so that every time I open Chrome, it opens two specific tabs related to school. Also, there seem to be some privacy issues with Chrome.

However, Chrome is still a great browser, and I used it for most of 2020, except for the end of 2020 when I used started using Opera (what I still use now) and a few weeks in the Summer when I used Firefox.

Mozilla Firefox

Download

As I mentioned earlier, I used Mozilla Firefox for a little bit of time in the Summer of 2020. The Privacy settings are a bit better than Chrome and Edge, which is a good thing. Above, you can see in the settings there is an option to do this. Homepage Privacy-Settings

Firefox is a great browser to have, and with the right add-ons, you will have yourself a great browser! However, there is one browser that, in my opinion, is the best of them all. That is Opera.

Opera

Download

Opera is the browser that I am currently using. Here is a screenshot of me working on the script of this article while using Opera.

Script

One of my favorite features is the workspaces. These are like separate windows inside the same window. On the sidebar (the gray bar on the left side) you will see two buttons that look like JP-Workspace and YT-Workspace. By doing this, you can sort your tabs without using different tabs, sort of the tab groups feature in Google Chrome. Another feature is called "Picture in Picture." This allows you to watch a video while on a different tab. For example, here is a screenshot of me working on the script while watching a Mr. Beast Video.

Multitasking

I believe Firefox also has this function too.

Conclusion

Web Browsers are things that we use each day. There are many browsers, each with different features. Hopefully, you have learned something from this article.

If you were wondering, here is a link to the ImgBB that I use to put screenshots in. If you're lucky, you might be able to get sneak peaks of my new articles.

NOTE:

I wasn't able to include Safari in the web browsers because on windows computers, you can't download it.

Also: On most of the screenshots I took, I covered up private information (such as the time, my name, and other things like that)

(Sorry for the late response) I use the PrtSc button for most of them and paste it to ImgBB. On Opera, there is also a feature to take a screenshot of the page.

Very well written! Personally I use Chrome for everything, except at work where they force us to use Edge. Thats not too bad I guess.
