It is no shocker that Taiwan is a bit of a miracle in the East. However, it is still largely a mystery to Western cultures and people seem to only know the political struggles surrounding it. In this blog, I hope to summarize my (hopefully unbiased) view of Taiwan as a Mainland Chinese who grew up overseas.

In a nutshell, this is a rant about a very immature minority amongst activists whose thoughts were wired the wrong way.

In many developing as well as developed states, women face discrimination and hold a lower status than men to this date. As society progresses and education becomes increasingly accessible, many begin to question the validity and morality of this phenomenon. Feminism is a movement and ideology that aims to raise awareness about and/or eliminate gender inequality. However, nowadays, many tend to naturally associate feminism with discriminatory matriarchal ideas. Why is this?

Qing was the final imperial dynasty to rule over China. Its borders and power formed the basis of the modern-day China. Though it was indisputably more powerful than its predecessors, many Chinese people today resent that era. Why is this?

I've noticed that there is a severe lack of knowledge of the Chinese civilization and history here on JetPunk, and honestly in the Western World in general, too. This is rather odd, especially when considering the nation's size and its historical influence. So, I thought, I might as well write a blog based on this rough topic to introduce y'all to some good ol' Chinese history, and of course practice my writing skills in the mean time.
