My Southwestern U.S. Trip Part: 3

+3

Over the April break, I explored the United States' Southwest region: Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and California. From the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada to my amazing hotel pool in Phoenix, Arizona, Angels Landing in Zion National Park, Utah down to our surprising stop at a Jack in the Box in Needles, California. This trip was truly unforgettable and I would love for you guys to hear all about it. PS: If you haven't read part 1 and part 2, I would recommend reading that first. Also, sorry it took me so long to post this, I have been off Jetpunk for a few months. Anyways, let's get into it.

Monday, April 18th: Pacific U.S. Time: Around 7:30 AM: Wake up

I woke up at around 7:30 after my last night in my Page hotel. I was very excited and looking forward to seeing Monument Valley. I got dressed, packed my suitcase, and then headed downstairs to eat some breakfast. I had waffles straight from the waffle maker and some yogurt. As usual, the food was great and I was upset to leave this amazing hotel. By 8:30, I was off.

Mountain U.S. Time: Around 11:30 AM: Arrive at Monument Valley

View of Monument Valley from Goulding's Lodge

It took me about 2 hours to arrive in Monument Valley, and since I was in the Navajo Nation, the time zone changed. After waiting at the tour place for a little while, the tour started at 12:00. I used Dineh Bekeyah tours for an authentic, Navajo tour. We hopped on this truck thing (I'm not so sure what it was) and the tour guide showed us around all of Monument Valley (mostly the Arizona side). The tour was amazing and the tour guide was too. I saw so many cool things like the Three Sisters monument, The main buttes (shown above), John Ford point, Eagle's eye cave, Ancient Pueblo drawings, and so much more. My tour guide also played the Navajo flute so beautifully in Eagle's eye cave. The tour was as authentic as it gets in Monument Valley and I totally recommend it. This was an incredible experience.

The tour lasted for around 2 hours and was done by 2:00.

Around 2:30 PM: Leaving Monument Valley

At around 2:30, I left Monument Valley for Kayenta to see if my hotel room was ready. By the time we arrived at 3:00, the room wasn't ready. It wasn't a big deal. Anyways, we had plans to check out the Four Corners (meeting point Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona). We grabbed some McDonald's (which I later regretted) and headed off. The drive took around 2 hours and it was torturous. By the time we got there, it was 4:45.

We stopped at the end of Four Corners road and was stopped at a closed gate. On the gate, there read a sign that said that the monument had just closed minutes before. My dad argued with the police officer across the road to please let us in, but after 15 minutes, the answer was still "No". I was very upset. I had been wanting to go here for a while. Also, we had driven for 2 hours just to see this! The McDonald's delayed us! I was enraged. Anyways, this was the New Mexico part of it. Unfortunately, we had to go back to our hotel in Kayenta.

Around 6:15 PM: Arrive at the Hampton Inn Kayenta Hotel

At around 6:15, I arrived at our hotel. It took me a little while to check in, so I didn't get to my room until around 6:40. After relaxing in my room for a little bit, I checked out the outdoor pool just to find out that it was closed until the end of May! Finally, I went to eat dinner at the hotel restaurant. I don't remember what I ordered, but I do remember that no alcohol was allowed in the Navajo Nation (Kayenta is a part of the Navajo Nation). I also remember ordering, but then having to wait for over an hour for food to come since half of the tables were reserved for a tour group that ordered first. Like my evening could get any worse. I didn't end up finishing dinner until 8:30 when I went back to my room to watch some tv.

I went to bed at around 10:00 but then was woken up in the middle of the night to a bloody nose. I was in the bathroom for 20 minutes! The blood couldn't stop gushing out of my nose!

Tuesday, April 19th: 6:30 AM: Wake up

I woke up early at around 6:30(Mountain time), since I needed to be at my next destination at 9:00 (Pacific time). I had a delicious breakfast and then I was off to my next destination.

Overall, Monument Valley was amazing! Please stay tuned for part 4, which should by coming out soon! PS: Comment down below where you think my next destination was.
