Removal of Russia Quizzes from Jetpunk

I've taken down all my quizzes about Russia.

If I was a country leader I'd be into sanctions. If I was on the IOC I'd ban their sportspeople.  However, I'm a quizzer so that's my contribution for now.

I also give financial support to Ukraine through the United24 website.

Since blogs require 500 characters, a little bit more will be said.  Most wars in history have been stupid, but Russia picking on a peaceful neighbour is beyond belief.  To be fair it's a product of a leader who has proven to be a psychopath, surrounded by yes-men too afraid to tell him he's being an idiot, and soldiers too afraid to tell their leader the same thing.

In the meantime, major admiration for president Zelensky.  Turning down an offer to be spirited out of his country to lead his people instead, at great risk to himself, humbles me.

Finally, people will do their own things in their own way to demonstrate support for an independent Ukraine and particularly against pointless wars waged by aggressive neighbours.  This, for a start, is mine.  I would be interested to hear what other ideas each of you have to support this stance.  I'm not particularly looking for agreement or disagreement with my approach.  I'm only interested in what you might consider doing!

I think it would be too much effort for too little return.

Surely, you could delete your own non-featured quizzes to show support for Ukraine but deleting / updating all those featured quizzes would do no good to JetPunk. North Korea would've been omitted long ago if we're to go by this idea.

This, however, is not to say that we can't support Ukraine by any other means. Making high quality quizzes would be one example.

@Stewart Yo I spotted a "Jet*unk"

Yes! I recently made a quiz "15 Largest Cities in Ukraine🇺🇦" https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/1313220/15-largest-cities-in-ukraine

This quiz policy was a start. See my separate blog about what else I'm doing to lend moral - and practical - support to Ukraine. It's only one person's individual effort, but when everyone does a little bit it will make a massive difference, I'm sure of that.

I agree, but fix the capitalization of Jet*unk, or else serious issues will rise

While I don't necessarily share your views, I do see where you might be coming from. JetPunk isn't meant to take a political role or action towards any specific belief, nation, or culture. What could be done instead is to recognize Ukrainian efforts through a blog or a quiz, or even better through the various donations spots across the Internet. That would leave more of an effect than downplaying Russia and removing all their quizzes.

When the Taliban took the control of Afghanistan, Quizmaster needed to put the flag of Taliban as standard, causing a big scandal. I don’t know if Russia is gonna take Ukraine, but if it happens, we’ll need to accept the reality. Deleting your quizzes is your choice, but I think too exaggerated, and can cause such a loss of work. You could maybe private them. Neither all Russians agree with Putin, but the good ones pay for the bad. Hopefully we’ll see your Russia quizzes back!

I have privated them. One day when normality returns I may re-release them, but I suspect, tragically, that may be quite a while.

Oh no, what is Putin gonna do now that all the quizzes about his country were deleted from a website he's probably never even heard of

Putin: Huh, I'm gonna go to Orcspel and promote it across my country because they kept Russia quizzes.

Ukraine: Thanks Jerry, Russia just collapsed from all the ads on Orcspel!

JetPunk is not meant to do politics or anything like that. As most of the users have commented before me, this will literally have no effect other than giving you some satisfaction. Such a help is not required.

One more thing that I would like to say is that several people are overreacting. As Tamashi had said above, since when people even cared about a country they didn't even surely know existed or not? (Obviously, not us JetPunkers, I'm talking about the common folk out there) When this thing gets over, everyone would forget the thing just as Afghanistan was forgotten.

I agree with everyone else here. I hate what Russia is doing, but it's also important to keep in mind that it's not the will of the Russian people. All the blame for this should lie on Putin, and I don't think it will help if we vilify or ignore the Russians who are having their own economic problems during this conflict.

That being said, I agree with your sentiment that we should make changes to quizzes. Personally, I've decided to recognize Crimea (and all Ukrainian territory) as Ukrainian on my quizzes from now on. And with all of the misinformation Putin is throwing out, I think it's also good for people to learn more about the geography, culture, and history of the region. Instead of deleting quizzes on Russia, make more quizzes on Ukraine (like Iluvbread said). That would be more meaningful.

History should not be ignored. And what is happening in Ukraine right now, is history in the making. We all agree that it is a bad situation to say the least, but history it is.

If we forget our history, however distasteful it may be, there is a good chance of it being repeated.

We should all as a species learn from the mistakes of the past, however I fear this may be like asking Pandora to put all the evil back in the box !

I have been to Ukraine (Kiev), just after their independance in fact, and I never encountered anything but friendliness from the local people.

I want to support Ukraine, and if deleting quizzes about Russia is encouraging to Ukraine in any way, or if it is just personally satisfying to do, that's fine too. But if we can show support with positive and encouraging Ukraine blogs and quizzes or any sort of truth-telling content concerning the true evil of Pootin' Vlad and his oligarch buds, that would be appreciated by me.
