Removal of Russia Quizzes from Jetpunk
I've taken down all my quizzes about Russia.
If I was a country leader I'd be into sanctions. If I was on the IOC I'd ban their sportspeople. However, I'm a quizzer so that's my contribution for now.
I also give financial support to Ukraine through the United24 website.
Since blogs require 500 characters, a little bit more will be said. Most wars in history have been stupid, but Russia picking on a peaceful neighbour is beyond belief. To be fair it's a product of a leader who has proven to be a psychopath, surrounded by yes-men too afraid to tell him he's being an idiot, and soldiers too afraid to tell their leader the same thing.
In the meantime, major admiration for president Zelensky. Turning down an offer to be spirited out of his country to lead his people instead, at great risk to himself, humbles me.
Finally, people will do their own things in their own way to demonstrate support for an independent Ukraine and particularly against pointless wars waged by aggressive neighbours. This, for a start, is mine. I would be interested to hear what other ideas each of you have to support this stance. I'm not particularly looking for agreement or disagreement with my approach. I'm only interested in what you might consider doing!
.
Surely, you could delete your own non-featured quizzes to show support for Ukraine but deleting / updating all those featured quizzes would do no good to JetPunk. North Korea would've been omitted long ago if we're to go by this idea.
This, however, is not to say that we can't support Ukraine by any other means. Making high quality quizzes would be one example.
@Stewart Yo I spotted a "Jet*unk"forbidden word in the titleUkraine: Thanks Jerry, Russia just collapsed from all the ads on Orcspel!
One more thing that I would like to say is that several people are overreacting. As Tamashi had said above, since when people even cared about a country they didn't even surely know existed or not? (Obviously, not us JetPunkers, I'm talking about the common folk out there) When this thing gets over, everyone would forget the thing just as Afghanistan was forgotten.
That being said, I agree with your sentiment that we should make changes to quizzes. Personally, I've decided to recognize Crimea (and all Ukrainian territory) as Ukrainian on my quizzes from now on. And with all of the misinformation Putin is throwing out, I think it's also good for people to learn more about the geography, culture, and history of the region. Instead of deleting quizzes on Russia, make more quizzes on Ukraine (like Iluvbread said). That would be more meaningful.
If we forget our history, however distasteful it may be, there is a good chance of it being repeated.
We should all as a species learn from the mistakes of the past, however I fear this may be like asking Pandora to put all the evil back in the box !
I have been to Ukraine (Kiev), just after their independance in fact, and I never encountered anything but friendliness from the local people.
