Some Fine Speedrunning Tips

+6

People often try to get the best score there are able to in a quiz as fast as possible, but many people tend to go about this the wrong way! So this is just a few tips to maybe help you become better at doing it

1. Know what you are typing next

Always have a plan on what you are typing next so you can keep it in good flow. If you don't know what you plan on typing next, you might spend even just a little extra time on thinking about what to type, and minimizing that extra time is what we are trying to do here.

2. Take your first attempts

Your first attempts are always the most important. That is when you still have a good mindset and are fresh and ready to go. These tries will almost always be the best ones, and you tire the longer you keep trying it. Even if you make a mistake or two, keep going with it.

3. Relax

Don't think about it too hard. Loosen your hands and stretch your fingers. Don't try and go too fast or you will make more mistakes. Definitely don't take it too seriously, or be mad at yourself when it doesn't go perfectly. You'll get there. You don't need a perfect run for it to be good.

4. Know your type-ins

There are many shortcuts that may use to maximize speed when you type, and if you get used to them, you can cut of seconds from your time.

Several notable ones for Countries of the World are:

KSA for Saudi Arabia

DPRK for North Korea

ROK for South Korea

DR for Dominican Republic

PNG for Papua New Guinea

NZ for New Zealand

FSM for Micronesia

PRC for China

ROC for Taiwan

You may also make typos, in which case there are shortcuts to fix that as well:

Ctrl+Del will delete your most recent word instantly

Ctrl+A+Del will delete everything you have written

Shift+Up+Del will delete everything as well

5. Practice and Patience go hand-in-hand

It will take you time. You won't get a perfect score immediately. But just keep on trying. You will eventually improve, but don't expect results on your first try. Keep on going and you will get there.

6. Have fun

You don't need to ace the run immediately, but don't overwork yourself. It's only a website and you don't need to stress. Improvements will come naturally.

I really hope these tips could help you, at least a little bit, and good luck! Now go get your records!

I think I'm a pretty accomplished typer!!!!! I typed the alphabet in 3 seconds, got 368 on the "Win the Presidential Election" (highest score ever on the quiz, from the 50,000 people who have taken the quiz!). My tips are: Look at the keyboard, not the screen, don't try to do it like 50 times in a row, just do it 1-3 times, then take a break (for example I type Tecas, Flroida, Claifornia, Ney Work, etc.), stay calm, and only do type-ins you're familiar with.

You asked me to be your friend. I had no idea who you were. Now I see, and this blog is really amazing for a first post! My mom types faster than she says (that was sarcastic LOL!), And I'm on my way. You need to know your keyboard, and use all your fingers, not just one.
