Curiosities about soccer

+2

Hi, guys! Today, we are going to list some of these facts, some of them, somewhat unusual!

Able to unite generations, classes and nations, it can be said that soccer is the sport that has the most enthusiasts around the world. The sport is so popular that, at the time of the famous World Cup, companies even dismiss their employees to be able to watch the games.

And when it comes to games, even if each fan has the expectation of a positive result at the end of the match, the feeling of surprise is one of the greatest charms that involve the 90 minutes of a game. In soccer, everyone knows how a match starts, but no one can imagine how it will go on and end.

Full of possibilities and with a power to lead people to a mixture of feelings between sadness, joy, anxiety and relief within seconds, soccer, in its trajectory, is composed of unusual stories and curious cases that not everyone knows.

1. Brazil is the only country present in all World Cups

Brazil is the only country that was present in all editions of the World Cup. The event has existed since 1930 and, since the beginning, no other country has been in all editions.

Whether they do not qualify, or for other reasons, such as politics, other nations have at least one fault.

2. The fastest red card in history

Former British player Lee Todd, in October 2000, took the fastest red card in soccer history. The defender, wearing the Cross Farm Park Celtic shirt, swore to the judge as soon as the game started.

He was startled by the sound of the whistle, because he was very close to the referee and, in short, he was expelled with very few seconds of play, by his dirty mouth.

3. There were no cards until the 1970 World Cup

After a mess at the 1966 World Cup, FIFA implemented the yellow and red cards. In a game between Argentina and England, Argentine captain Rattín contested a foul with German referee Rudolf Kreitlein. The judge considered the complaint to be sharp and expelled the Argentine. Rudolf used gestures to indicate that Rattín had been expelled, but the Argentine did not understand and refused to leave the field.

Inspired by the colors of the traffic light - yellow to slow down and red to stop - the head of referees at the 1970 World Cup, Englishman Keen Aston, had the idea of using colors to signal penalties. Before that, the referees used only the whistle, voice and gestures to make the markings.

4. Entire team dies in the field… and the other team is unharmed

This bizarre and sad case happened in 1998. A game in the Democratic Republic of the Congo ended tragically. On one side of the field, the team Bena Tshadi, on the other, Basanga.

During the game, lightning struck the field and all 11 Bena Tshadi players died. But on the other side, all 11 of Basanga left unscathed. The incident even discussed the possibility of witchcraft.

5. Soccer with three teams on the field instead of two

Back in the 1950s, an artist from Denmark, called Asger Jorn, developed a soccer field with three sides instead of two. In this modality, the team with the least goal would win.

The idea was to reduce violence in the sport, since the focus was on defense, not attack. Amazingly, even today there are official football games with three sides.

6. A soccer player who ended the civil war in a country

Didier Drogba is considered the greatest soccer player in the history of Ivory Coast. After ensuring the classification of the club in which he worked for the World Cup, he acted in favor of peace.

On the country's national network, Drogba appealed to the two sides that divided Ivory Coast in the war. His emotional request, which was one of the most well-known and important figures nationally, led to a ceasefire.

Afterwards, he remained involved in peacekeeping in the country. He went on to build hospitals and became an ambassador of the United Nations.

7. Tragedy caused by cheering fight

In 1985, in Belgium, a real tragedy in the world of football made the case of cheerleading even more controversial. Liverpool fans have killed 39 Juventus fans. In the same episode, 600 people were injured.

The English pushed the Italians against a wall, which gave way and dragged people. As a punishment, all teams in England were banned from tournaments by UEFA, the European football confederation, for five years. Liverpool, on the other hand, did not compete on the continent for six years.

The episode became known as "The Heysel Tragedy".

8. The youngest player ever hired by a football team

The grassroots categories welcome young teen talent, even children… but what about babies? The youngest player ever hired by a team was only 20 months old. That's right, just over two years.

This happened in 2013, when they saw the little boy playing, playing, and saw talent in him. The team, in this case was FC Racing Boxberg, from Belgium. Little Bryce Brites was integrated into the club's sub 5 team.

9. World record for goals… against

In the Madagascar league, a record was set that was virtually impossible to break. The SO Emyrne team scored 149 goals against!

Calm, but it was not the lack of skill of the players that resulted in the shameful result. In the previous game, a judge's decision would have cost the team the championship. To protest, when they caught the champion, they stayed the whole game scoring goals against the net itself.

10. A peaceful day on Earth

On December 25, 1914, in the middle of the First World War, some members of the German and British troops made a ceasefire to celebrate Christmas.

The two sides exchanged gifts, buried their dead and even played a game of football! Unfortunately, that did not change his resolve to continue fighting the next day.

11. Ronaldinho Gaúcho scored 23 goals in a single game

This story was considered a legend. However, Ronaldinho Gaúcho himself confirmed it.

When he was a teenager, aged 13, he scored 23 goals in one match. The game ended in 23 x 0, like all goals scored by him.

12. Forbidden to be an astronaut

In 1999, Swedish player Stefan Schwarz signed a contract with the British team Sunderland. One clause in particular called attention: he could not travel in space!

At that time, commercial flights in space were expected to begin within a few years and the player's agent had booked a place in one of the first (which never happened). But space flights are not covered by insurance companies…

13. They stole the cup!

The World Cup trophy was used in two versions: the Jules Rimet Cup, from 1930 to 1970, which was named after the first president of FIFA, the governing entity of football, and the World Cup Trophy, used from 1974 until today.

In the first editions, the definitive possession of the cup would remain with the country that managed to win three editions of the world cup, which happened to Brazil after winning in 1958, 1962 and 1970. After Brazil's three-time championship, FIFA prepared the new cup, this time without allowing final delivery to the winners.

In 1983, Jules Rimet was stolen in Brazil and, a few days later, it was discovered that it had been melted. In 2015, part of the cup was found in the basements of FIFA's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.

If you want to know what the world record is for most goals scored by a player that played in a professional international game then Erling Haaland has the world record for most goals scoring 9 versus Honduras.

If you want to know the record for most goals against without the team without purposefully scoring own goals then the record is USA women 13 Thailand women 0

The only thing I have with the 3 team one is the fact that you could just stand still or run off as if you got a red card.

The fastest red card that was not before the game was Serge Djihoua with a 3 second red card by being substituted. Other fast red cards include a 13 second goalkeeper red card. Lione Messi's Argentina debut being red carded in just 38 seconds and a Steven Gerrard red card in 45 seconds
