“THIS OR THAT!?” WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE!? 🤔 - Part 2

+1

Well, this is the second part. I released the first part at last year (only 1 month and some days...), and I said the differences between:

  1. Consulate VS Embassy
  2. Venom VS Poison
  3. Poem VS Poetry
  4. Hotel VS Inn VS Resort VS Motel
  5. Climate VS Weather
  6. Drawing VS Illustration
  7. Ice Cream VS Gelato
  8. Cake VS Sponge Cake
  9. Algebra VS Arithmetic
  10. DNA VS RNA

Let’s see some differences? Yes!

1. CITY VS TOWN

Source: Inamara

Suggestion by: @Einstein100102.

Well, it's a difficult topic to explain, but it doesn't hurt to try. Simply put, TOWN is smaller than a CITY. City, in turn, has a larger, more comprehensive area and is also more populous than a town.

Explaining more historically, towns first emerged, which were founded by those who no longer practiced agriculture, and as these towns grew, they became cities. Diverse countries have different ways of classifying whether a place is a town or a city. In the USA the definition of town varies from state to state, but it is always based on the type of government or the number of inhabitants.

2. BAY VS GULF

Source: Brainly

Suggestion by: @Jetpunker180.

Gulf consists of a part of the sea or ocean that penetrates sharply the land part of the continent, that is, it is a part of the sea that penetrates the mainland. It is commonly shaped like a horseshoe. When its entrance is narrower it receives the name of bay.

Bay comprises a narrow part of the sea or the ocean surrounded by land, in opposite location to a cable. It is smaller than a gulf and larger than an inlet.

3. PIE VS TART

Source: CiberDuvidas PT

Tart is a delicacy whose base is made of puff pastry or dough, water, butter or other fat and salt, with which a shape is lined and filled with any ingredient. The pie is a kind of roll made from a rectangle of thinly dough and already cooked, which is covered with a sweet or salty filling and which then rolls over itself.

4. LLAMA VS ALPACA

Source: TriCurioso

Suggestion by: @Fuse

The most notable difference between the two animals is their size. Alpacas are generally smaller, about 90 cm high and weigh between 55 to 65 kg. The llamas are bigger, with about 120 cm in height and average weight of 113 kg. In addition to the difference in size, their faces are also different: alpacas have small faces with short ears, while llamas have more elongated faces with ears about the size of a banana.

Another fundamental difference is their hair. Alpacas have tousled hair that is used for wool production. Your hair color can vary a lot, from light colors like white and yellow to a darker color, like brown and black. Llamas' hair is thicker and their wool is considered inferior, but some llama breeders are already working on creating a modified breed that can produce thinner, softer hair.

Humans generally use llamas as pack animals, as they can carry a considerable amount of weight. A llama can carry a load of 50 kg for up to 30 km per day. However, it is important to take good care of them, because when they feel overwhelmed or mistreated, they react by spitting, kicking, lying on the floor or even refusing to continue the journey. But most of the time llamas are gentle creatures. Alpacas, on the other hand, are a little more shy and like to be together with their herd.

5. SHEET VS PAGE

Source: Printi

The term “page” corresponds to each side of the paper capable of receiving printing. We can say that each side of a sheet has one page, that is, two pages per sheet (front and back). Even when not printed, these pages belong to the material.

EVERY PRINTABLE FACE should be considered as a page. In a practical way, in a material, be it a folder, magazine or book, we should count the pages as each side of each sheet. If the material has 20 pages, it will have 10 sheets and vice versa.

The front is the odd page and the back the even page. Each sheet of the material has two pages, even if they have not been printed.

6. OVERWEIGHT VS OBESITY

Source: Instituto EndoVitta

Overweight and Obesity imply a condition of being overweight in a human being. The term overweight is generally used to indicate excess of weight, while obese refers to excess fat.

7. SNEAKERS VS SHOES

Source: Blog Vc Na Moda

The shoe is one that should be worn at important meetings, large events, more formal places, along with social clothes (even if it matches jeans too). Depending on the job, as a lawyer for example, the shoe becomes a mandatory part in the look. As it is a more elegant shoe, the shape and material that is made often do not contribute to the full comfort of the feet.

Sneaker is one that has its own characteristics for some sports practice, such as shock absorbers, mesh fabric, details in reflective materials, etc. There are even specific types of sneakers for each type of sport, but what should be made clear is that sneakers have to be reserved for sports practices, they should not be used on a daily basis, even though they are more comfortable than shoes.

8. COUNTRY VS NATION

Source: PT Quora

Suggestion by: @Einstein100102

The country is a sovereign and inhabited territory, with government and borders defined and recognized by the international community. Nation is a group of people who identify themselves as a people belonging to the same history, the same customs and, occasionally, the same country.

It can be simplified by saying that the country is the political entity and the nation is the people.

9. EMPIRE VS KINGDOM

Source: Stoodi

Suggestion by: @Jetpunker180

The concept of kingdom is something that accompanies us in many disciplines in high school. It is seen, for example, in Biology, with the plant kingdom, the animal kingdom... However, in History, it is also present, now as a form of government. Kingdoms are nothing more than states ruled by a monarch, who can be both a king and a queen.

Now, a question that arises very often and that is, of course, quite pertinent: what are empires? Well, quite simply, empires are modes of government in which states are ruled by an emperor. However, it can also be a term used when we talk about large extensions under the power of just one person, such as the Roman Empire or the Persian Empire.

10. ALLIGATOR VS CROCODILE

wow, I learned a lot! the city vs town is definitely a very hard one. One thing I've observed is that cities generally have taller buildings than towns (I have visited many towns and cities and there is a clear difference). Also, most cities tend to be very crowded, with buildings often next to each other. But in towns, there is a lot of open area. I live near a major road, and on one side is a town, which is dotted with many small businesses, but on the other, it's a small-sized city with many larger businesses. Downtown is super crowded, just like some other cities. I searched google and it said, "A town is a populated area with fixed boundaries and a local government. A city is a large or important town..."

Cool! First, I thinked that town was look a village, and a city like... a city! LOL! But what I want to say, was really the population. The verticalization is very present in the cities, and this one of the reasons of the cities has larger population quota.

A gulf is (generally) larger than a bay and is almost 100% covered by land on all sides, but it has a small opening on just one side. It's also deeper than a bay. A bay only has land on 3 sides, with a larger opening.

Not everything is like seems.

The Hundred Years' War lasted 116 years, from 1337 to 1453;

The Panama Hat is manufactured in Ecuador;

The Red October Revolution is celebrated in November;

King George VI's first name was Albert. In 1936, he granted Queen Victoria a wish and changed his name;

The Canary Islands are named after the dog. The Latin name is "Insularia Canaria", which in Latin means Dog Island;

The Napoleon’s horse's color was brown, White was its name;

Chinese gooseberry comes from New Zealand;

The aircraft's Black Box is orange to make it easy to locate;

The Camel Hair Brush is made of squirrel hair.

But this is strange. Idk.

Graphic novels are longer than comic books. ... Graphic novels contain complete narratives, whether or not they are part of a larger series. Comic books contain excerpts of serialized narratives. It can be difficult to read a comic book if you haven't read the comic that comes directly before it in series.
