Introducing Badges

We introduced a new feature to JetPunk yesterday: badges.

Badges are just a simple way to recognize your for a job well done. Right now, we only have two badges, but more are coming soon.

So far, an amazing 19,000 users have earned the 196 Badge for naming all the countries in the world!

what about 'USA sprint' badge for completing the 1 minute sprint versions of those 3 quizzes?

Yeah, it's deliberate, since Trump isn't actually President until January.

so stats after resets are still stored somewhere? in the 'more stats' section it would be nice to compare your scores to the pre-reset ones

Aw man, I'm going to lose the USA badge soon! I memorized all the presidents and aced the quiz but have since forgotten them, so I will have to memorize them all over again once the answers are reset! Oh well, it's good for me to know them anyway.

Interesting feature! How about "map quiz geek" "196 capitals" and "region namer" (aka naming the regions of France, provinces of China, states of India or Germany, etc.) just to name a few.

What about doing sports leagues badges? For each sports league, do the teams, champions, mvps, etc. And for the badge picture, use the league logo. Just a suggestion.

The numbers seem wildly off for the British Badge, unless I'm mistaken. :)

SHOWS: 40 British Cities, all the British Monarchs, 35 English Counties, and 20 Prime Ministers

SHOULD BE: 69 British Cities, all the British Monarchs, 48 English Counties, and 54 Prime Ministers

You are mistaken! You don't have to get 100% on the quizzes to get that badge. Mostly because I wanted to earn one. :)

Why does the World Capitals badge say/only require the capitals of Europe, Asia, and South America?

I was thinking the same thing. Just make it so that it requires, say, 190/196 or so on the World Capitals quiz.

Might be a bit egotistic here, but how about a badge if you get say 100 points from one set of user quizzes e.g. Jerry928, Quizzer6794, relessness, kiwirage etc.

I think the users should be allowed to create badges based on their quizzes! for example jerry928 could create a badge 'countries closest to...' where you have to get minimum 80% on all such quizzes

Scambigol's suggestion would be great for creating badges in other languages. Gamer could make badges for his Spanish quizzes, and punkfrancais does it for French quizzes (though QM is punkfrancais), etc.

How about showing your stats along with requirements on each badge page? Now I have to click on each quiz and check if I took it already with two more clicks. (Why is there no link to stats on quiz page? It shows only after results.)

Here's a thought - add the "all country flags of the world" and "all country shapes of the world" to the 196 badge, or create a badge like "the world knowledge badge."

Ah, a new badge finally. Good to see you haven’t forgotten about them. Perhaps a Pokémon badge, could be added? It’s not that obscure and there seems to be a lot of quizzes on it, so it would make sense.

Any chance of some new badges to give those of us who are stuck indoors for the foreseeable future something to distract ourselves with? Otherwise I have to talk to my wife ;-)

Ps, I’m happy to make a few suggestions although I have no idea how to contact QM, unless you/he want the suggestions in here.

New badges will be coming in the future. But I've found that, while many people ask for new badges, few actually do them once they are released.

Fair enough.

That does surprise me, but maybe I am in a minority in liking doing them. Granted one I haven’t even tried, the computer games one as I haven't played a computer game in 20years, but the rest I have enjoyed.

Each to their own I guess.

Thumbs up on creating a site that helps keep me sane anyway.
