PSA: It's JetPunk not Jetpunk

Preface

One of the most common mistakes I see in so many comments, is user's inability to correctly capitalise the name of the website they are using. JetPunk (notice the capital P) has always, and will always, have a capitalised P. For JetPunk is not a single word, but rather a compound of two words; Jet and Punk.

The Jet comes from the original purpose of JetPunk: a travel website. The origins of the word Punk are unknown, since in English it is often connotated with inferiority or weakness, neither of which would apply to JetPunk. I suppose it just happened to sound nice when they came up with the name.

Acceptable Spellings

There are a few accepted ways of referring to JetPunk, all of which have practical uses. Hint: none of them contain an uppercase J with a lowercase p.

JetPunk

The classical form, every official piece of JetPunk material should contain this spelling and capitalisation, for it is in the navigation bar itself on desktop. It is the stylistic choice as well as a linguistic one.

jetpunk

This is used for urls (as they do not contain capitals) as well as in informal text when users refuse to type using capital letters. This is an acceptable form if you do not wish to capitalise words, just like how some people would not capitalise names or the letter "i".

JP / jp

The acronym form is commonly used for quick abbreviation to JetPunk. If you are typing something quickly or something long, it can be useful to shorten the name to something recognisable. The only other use of "jp" that I know of is the country code for Japan, other than that I know of no other acronym that fits.

In Conclusion

This is not meant to be a wholly serious article, but just a rant to express my frustration. Those who decide to put a little effort in and capitalise the J of JetPunk, but then refuse to capitalise the P itself, are lazy and should be banished.

Or maybe not, but hey it's little effort to capitalise both J and P, or neither! After all, it's in the navigation bar, so you have no excuse!

This was a short semi-satirical article to express my distaste towards the miscreants who refuse to spell JetPunk correctly.

Well, actually, at least QM (or you, Stewart, I don't know...) is a miscreant. On the "Your quizzes" page, at the top of the page, it's written "Une liste de tous les quiz Jetpunk de l'utilisateur ...", at least in French...

However, funny blog although I don't feel concerned because capital letters are important.

I have a question. If it's fine to say jetpunk with no capitals, then what if we want to say jetpunk at the beginning of a sentence? We only need to make the first letter capital, and the original word is "jetpunk", which is an acceptable spelling. So can you say Jetpunk then?
