"humanize" is also a word, so you should specify humans aren't included.

Apparently no one here has seen mothballs.

Then again, it is hard to get their tiny little legs apart.

Cricket should also work for "ball". Hobbyhorse is an interesting one, since both halves of the word are animals! The hobby is a bird of prey.

I thought the same on Cricket for ball, but ‘cricket ball’ is two words. I assume that’s why QM doesn't allow it.

I think monkeyshine must be American colloquial. Still, I know it now - that's why I'm here - to learn stuff.

Always nice when the answers that you didn't get are all answers that you'd never get in a million years.

Never heard of a crabapple, monkeyshine, or a gadfly, though it seems this last one is just a name of an animal?

Got all but one of these, but at least I didn't have that moment of kicking myself for missing the last one, as there was no chance I was going to get it: 'monkeyshine' is certainly a new one for me! Must see if I can slip it into conversation somewhere...
