While the movie is actually the seven 'dwarfs', many people would think hmm...one dwarf, multiple dwarves. Dwarves is the commonly accepted plural form. Once again, I know I simply chose the wrong name for the movie, but not sure if that's an acceptable answer.

Definitely messed me up! Then I thought, "Hey, what if I misspell it?" :)

It should have accepted dwarves. It will now. But, FYI, dwarves is incorrect. Here's what Tolkien says:

In English the only correct plural of dwarf is dwarfs, and the adjective is dwarfish. In this story dwarves and dwarvish are used, but only when speaking of the ancient people to whom Thorin Oakenshield and his companions belonged.

Quizmaster nailed it. The correct English word is and has always traditionally and historically been "dwarfs"--the "dwarves" form is something Tolkien derived himself for the sake of his stories (which is also probably why it's more common now, as Tolkien's work proliferated in popular culture).

The way I've always seen it is that Dwarf and Dwarfs are the correct terminology when concerning reality, and that Dwarves only refers to mythical creatures. Calling a group of little people a gathering of dwarves is insulting to them. Dwarfs is correct, but even that isn't truly PC today.

Agree with Foulfortune; I hate those too. Those and obscure sports questions. It's not common-knowledge or relevant to anything. I can see Snow White, sure, because that's common knowedge. Something specific Harry Potter has to do, or what quarterback was with the Raiders in 1983; that makes a general quiz suddenly very biased.
