Was, sadly. He died in 2015, aged 40, from a heart attack.

Wow - I'd never heard. That is sad. What an athlete.

Lomu was not born in Samoa; he was born in Auckland.

Pukekohe to be precise. Of Tongan heritage so nothing to do with Samoa.

Thought the quiz was pretty easy. Only one I didn't know and there was plenty of time to get it by the name

As an American, i was pretty proud to know Drogba. And VERY surprised that 59% got him right. Must be more Europeans taking these quizzes than i originally thought.

I think he's become more well known in the states since joining Canada's MLS and playing friendlies with our teams.

Either that or there are a lot more West Africans taking the quizzes than you originally thought.

Really... The Jr. instead of his father???? The Jr. instead of a Legend??? Putting the Jr. in a quiz that features true legends like Pelé, Federer, Nurmi, Lomu et al. is almost a crime against boxing and the country he comes from altogether (when you could've erased that "Jr." and the answer/country would still be the same, but with a true legend instead).

Am I the only one here that knows nothing about athletes and simply guessed based on the how the name is written and what it sounds like? By doing so, I got more than the average answers correct, by the way.

Yep, I knew 4 athletes from their sports, and the rest was guessing the country from the name. Quite fun! Only got 10 though.

Sonja Henie was least guessed? Wow, I feel really old.

It turns out, I don't know where too many athletes are from, if they don't play hockey.

Never heard of Sammy Sosa, Dominik Kasek or Manu Ginobili and I follow World Sport.

Must not follow world sport too closely then? Both Hasek and Ginobili played sports that are popular around the world, and each were starring players on Gold medal winning Olympic teams. (Sosa I understand, he probably wasn't well known outside North America.)
