Nicknames in old baseball, especially Negro League ball, are so much better than nicknames today. The best one here is 'Round Mound of Rebound' but that wasn't really used for Barkley, who was mostly called 'Sir Charles' or 'Chuck.' Today we have lame nicknames like 'Arod,' or self-given lame ones like 'Black Mamba,' for Kobe. We need Cool Papa Bell! Satchel! Three-Finger Brown! Dizzy and Daffy! The Great Bambino and the million other ones for Babe Ruth! Even older football nicknames like the Galloping Ghost, or Night Train. What happened to these nicknames? Why are we stuck with lame ones now?
