for those wondering about this comment, the quiz was originally released with a misspelling. "Stanlingrad" I guess one could think that since the USSR sucked up 5 of the 7 Stans, they could name a city in their honor. :)
Stanlingrad was named after the famous explorer Henry Morton Stanley (in Russian Genrich Mortowich Stanli), who discovered many unknown tribes in Africa. One of these tribes, the "Volo", had a marxist-communist System. After discovering, that Stanli was a secret CIA-Agent, the city was renamed after this African tribe.
Do you refer to other famous figures by their first names in casual conversation? John, Ludwig, Fyodor, Pyotr, Charles? No. You refer to them by their surnames. Why should it be different in a quiz?
