You are correct that Napoli is right. However, I believe that all the answers on this site in English only, so that is probably why Naples is the only accepted answer.

Whoever taught you that "alternate current" was the correct term was incorrect. "AC" does not mean an alternate or different type of current from "DC" (direct current). It was called "alternating current" because electricity switched back and forth between flowing one way, then the opposite way (i.e., alternating). Direct current flows just one way all the time. It was a great debate between Edison and Tesla as to which was safest for use in supplying electricity. Tesla "won." AC is the type of electrical flow that is used (at least in the USA).
