I think South America is easiest: not many countries, all easily visible. Africa has a few sneaky ones and took me a while to get them all.

Btw guys, here's a tip: Do Europe first since its one of the easiest/do those countries that you're most familiar with/do it by regional names such as Balkans or Scandinavia/start with the less known countries then finish off the quick and easy ones/(NOT RECOMMENDED) cheat with Wikipedia or Google maps.

Also what stumped me in this quiz history was: First Kosovo and Antigua and Barbuda and Tonga, now its A&B still.

I mastered this over a period of about 7 days....it is possible, just be confident. I am not the fastest keyboarder, but typing in names you are familiar with makes it more and more easy to speed up. Personally, I complete each region, Caribbean, then North America, Central and South, then all the islands of Africa, Africa, then Oceania, then Asia starting with the smaller countries, Brunei, Maldives, and East Timor, Singapore, Taiwan.. Then remaining Asia, then the "-stan" countries, MIddle East, then the smaller countries in Europe - Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican, Macedonia, Montenegro, Malta, Cyprus, (sometimes Kosovo) then remaining Europe. It really helps me to group the smaller countries, because they are the easiest to miss....if you have a plan you can name them all. Good luck!!! You can do it! :)

Make a plan for how you are going to "attack" or complete the countries. The more random you are, the less likely you are going to succeed. Make note of the countries you miss, write them down, and then the next time you start, start with those previously forgotten countries. When I started I would read them off my list and type them in. Make it systematic. I know you will be successful if you remain committed...you can do it! If I can finish all countries with about 2 minutes remaining, you can too!

Try practicing one continent at a time as well. Just sitting down and memorizing them all isn't going to help. Start with South America (it only has 12 countries, and you probably know the names of most of them!), master it, and then move on to another continent. It also helps to actually know where the countries are on the maps instead of just the names. That way, you can kind of picture it in your mind as you go, even with the map right there.

I would just replace what sound like "i"s with "y"s and remember to throw the "z" in there. I spent 6 months there, though, so it just comes naturally to me.

I love this quiz, it's the first one I play when i'm on Jetpunk but I only have one problem with it. I've noticed that there are so many exceptions if you incorrectly spell certain countries. It should be that if you can't spell a country properly then it shouldn't be accepted at all. Some people really need to learn how to spell, like c'mon people, you obviously have some sort of internet connection to play this quiz so google the bloody correct way to spell it or even use spell check do something like LEARN HOW TO SPELL.

I tend to do the countries that I can do as acronyms (USA, UAE, UK, CAR, PNG) first, then continue from there. My Great Big El-ephant Has No CRitical Problems, is how I remember Central American countries. I guess there are different strategies, does anyone have any that are really good?

It really is a pity that French Guiana and New Caledonia don't turn green when you type in France. This site is no doubt populated by people with mild OCD - I'm sure some of them are absolutely freaking out over this!

Well, the world record is actually 3 mins 45 secs, and here's the quiz that proves it. People are trying hard to set a new, 3 min 30 sec, record here, and the nearest anyone has got is 193.

(30)
My fourth time in a fortnight and managed 176, although I am typing as fast as I can I run out of time before I'm out of countries. I'm Australian and it seems to be the Oceana islands that I miss out on mostly. I start in Europe, then Africa followed by north & south America then Asia and finally Oceana. I enjoy this challenge as I have to not only know the countries but improve my typing speed in the attempt.

love this site. not trying to nitpick. you get 4 minutes to complete the Australia map and 12 minutes to complete the world map. accordingly, you should get either 30 secs. for Australia or 65 mins. for the world.

Great quiz. Just wish the map was a little bigger. My friend who introduced this to me memorized the countries alphabetically and can complete it in half the allocated time. But it's a moot point to me since he fails miserably when I ask him to point out a specific one on the map. Hahaha! I prefer to go start from one end and move sequentially from one country to the next. It's not nearly as fast but it's far more educational IMHO.

NOT ENOUGH TIME! I type like a crazy person and cannot get more than 100, no way! That must skew statistics. Plus, if we misspell a word or have a typo, there will be 4 names stacked up and they must be erased and re-typed. Depressing for us bad typists. (way back in jr high, nearly 50 yrs ago, they pulled me from typing class and made me take another semester of french, "college prep" they said, I "didn't need to type"...paying for it in the computer age)

Which way is best to complete? By continent? Trying to remember by alphabet? Or just frantically typing til you run out of time? I've tried all these and I still can't do it in 12 minutes?! I know them all, I just never have enough time. Sometimes I'll cancel the timer after about 11.50 and just keep going. I know 15 minutes wouldn't be a challenge to some people. But it would give slow typists like me a fighting chance!
Nov 25, 2014
(63)
I'd suggest doing it by continent/region. North/South America and Caribbean total 35, so I always start there, then go to Europe, across Asia, then finish with Africa. Some people do all the micronations first to make sure they don't miss them, but I just do them as part of each continent (and look at the list at the end if I'm short).
