So many liars on this board. It's impossible to complete this quiz in less than 14 minutes. I am at the point now where I can supply all the answers in rapid succession AND I type about 70 words per minute. One would have to type 140 wpm without any hesitation to complete this test with 5 to 8 minutes remaining on the clock, and that is highly unlikely.

Don't give up it is possible, the first time I succeeded I had 15 secs left, now my best time is 1:10 left. I type slowly They can't all be liars. You need a system

The current average scores for the sprint versions of this quiz are One minute - 30 countries; Two minutes - 64; Three minutes - 83; Four Minutes - 124; Five Minutes - 136.

There must be something wrong with your math - I am a slow typist, and I have, in fact, completed it. I now do so consistently with 2-3 minutes left.

There are people who type 160 unknown words per minute. There are people who do close to 250 words per minute with known words and phrases. After a few times with this quiz, it would qualify as the latter. That would be about 4 words per second. Yes, that's fast. Just doing simple math -- assuming about 2 words per country, you have 196 countries = 400 words. So a championship typist would be able to plow through all of these countries in about 2 minutes. Leaving 10 minutes on the clock. So 8 minutes is definitely feasible. Myself, I'm around 50 words a minute unknown, and I might get to about 80 with well known words. Which leaves me with 5 minutes to plow through this test, leaving 7 minutes on the clock. Real world best for me right now is leaving 3 minutes on the clock. So not only is this test doable, but it is doable by slower people than yourself!

I'm not sure where you got your "facts" but your math is highly, highly speculative. You can't extraplolate data like that, this is a multi-variable quiz. You're talking about typing speed which is only part of the whole picture. Just because someone can type fast doesn't mean there are able to (also) quickly locate and identify countries. Some of these countries are miniscule. I am one of the fastest typers I know, and I'm nowhere close to these numbers you've provided. 160 wpm? 250 wpm? I call BS. Is this quiz possible to finish in time? Yes. Is it possible to finish with time left on the clock? Yes. Can you locate, identify, type and spell CORRECTLY 196 countries in 4 minutes? Not likely unless you cheated.

I thought the same thing when I first started until I started completing under 12 min. Since then I've completed it about a dozen times & each time I've been getting faster, to 9mins17secs (2min43sec left). What seems to work for me is to stop looking back & forth between the map & words I'm typing. I'm more likely to make mistakes when typing fast & as soon as you type the country, it disappears & I can start entering the next country, so I keep my eyes on the box. I know the countries well enough, that I don't really need to refer to the map to see what country comes next, I start in the Stans, go East to the rest of Asia, Then Africa, Europe, out through the Balkans to the Mid East, then the Americans & Micronesia last. I often combine all the micro nations in groups in each area that way I don't have to worry about forgetting one and losing time at the end figuring it out. It's definitely possible. But just like in typing, we lose time if we look back & forth.

I am perplexed by this comment. Just because you can't do it (in addition to your faulty math) does not mean it's impossible. I regularly get done with anywhere from 6 minutes to 4 minutes remaining. I have a system, like someone else mentioned. I go in an explicit order every single time, without fail. North America-South America-Europe-Asia-Oceania-Africa. I have them memorized to the point where I don't need to look up at the map at all anymore, except to occasionally check if I missed something. For example: the string of Portugal-Spain-France-Germany-Poland-Belarus comes out all at once, like it's not even multiple words. That saves time. Same with Norway-Sweden-Finland-Russia, and again with Morocco-Algeria-Tunisia-Libya-Egypt. Simple as that. No lying here, just memorization, efficiency, and a passable typing speed.

Typing at 23 words per minute (standard 5 letters per word) will do the trick. Typing at 46 words per minute, you can literally spend half the time correcting your typos, and you will still be just fine. Learn how to spell the countries, and practice on the individual continents. Do not type random countries, that will kill you. Try abc order, north to south, east to west, remember how many countries and/or small islands there are in a region (7 small central american countries, 12 south american countries, 13 caribbean islands, 6 small islands off the coast of Africa, 14 countries in Oceania, stuff like that. I know that North, South, Central America, and the Caribbean islands make up a total of 35 countries, and that is what I start with first, moving from North to South, and doing the Caribbean islands in ABC order. Then I move to Europe, and use ABC order. For Africa, I start with Algeria, move east through djibouti and Eritrea, and snake my way down to Sudan

and back towards West Africa, then I make my way south down the west coast, and back up the east coast to Somalia, and don't forget those islands. Middle East is next. Israel, Lebanon, and Jordan are a group that I never separate. Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and UAE are another group I never separate. Iran, Iraq together always. The 7 "stans" Afg, Pak, Kaz, Kyr, Taj, Tur, Uzb all at once. India+Nepal+BBB = Burma, Bangladesh, Bhutan. Viet, Thai, Camb, Laos always together. China, Mong, Kor x 2, Japan. Asian islands (not in Oceania) = Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, East Timor, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Maldives. By now, you should be at 182/196, and finish last 14 with Oceania. Australia, NZ, Papua, etc...

It is really not that hard. I just completed it with 5:36 left on the clock and it was my second time only getting them all (but I've practiced quite a bit before until I finally got down all the bahamas and oceania islands). With practices you create sequences in your mind that you can get down really quickly, and then there are only a few holes left to fill which need some reflection.

I took this quiz for the first time maybe a year ago. I only got roughly half. I compiled a list of the countries I wasn't familiar with and I studied their geographical location, their people, their culture. I took this quiz over and over until I knew every one. I continue to take it every month or so to make sure I don't forget or slow down. Jetpunk is like free school -- I appreciate it.

Btw guys, here's a tip: Do Europe first since its one of the easiest/do those countries that you're most familiar with/do it by regional names such as Balkans or Scandinavia/start with the less known countries then finish off the quick and easy ones/(NOT RECOMMENDED) cheat with Wikipedia or Google maps.

I mastered this over a period of about 7 days....it is possible, just be confident. I am not the fastest keyboarder, but typing in names you are familiar with makes it more and more easy to speed up. Personally, I complete each region, Caribbean, then North America, Central and South, then all the islands of Africa, Africa, then Oceania, then Asia starting with the smaller countries, Brunei, Maldives, and East Timor, Singapore, Taiwan.. Then remaining Asia, then the "-stan" countries, MIddle East, then the smaller countries in Europe - Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican, Macedonia, Montenegro, Malta, Cyprus, (sometimes Kosovo) then remaining Europe. It really helps me to group the smaller countries, because they are the easiest to miss....if you have a plan you can name them all. Good luck!!! You can do it! :)

Make a plan for how you are going to "attack" or complete the countries. The more random you are, the less likely you are going to succeed. Make note of the countries you miss, write them down, and then the next time you start, start with those previously forgotten countries. When I started I would read them off my list and type them in. Make it systematic. I know you will be successful if you remain committed...you can do it! If I can finish all countries with about 2 minutes remaining, you can too!

Try practicing one continent at a time as well. Just sitting down and memorizing them all isn't going to help. Start with South America (it only has 12 countries, and you probably know the names of most of them!), master it, and then move on to another continent. It also helps to actually know where the countries are on the maps instead of just the names. That way, you can kind of picture it in your mind as you go, even with the map right there.

I love this quiz, it's the first one I play when i'm on Jetpunk but I only have one problem with it. I've noticed that there are so many exceptions if you incorrectly spell certain countries. It should be that if you can't spell a country properly then it shouldn't be accepted at all. Some people really need to learn how to spell, like c'mon people, you obviously have some sort of internet connection to play this quiz so google the bloody correct way to spell it or even use spell check do something like LEARN HOW TO SPELL.

My fourth time in a fortnight and managed 176, although I am typing as fast as I can I run out of time before I'm out of countries. I'm Australian and it seems to be the Oceana islands that I miss out on mostly. I start in Europe, then Africa followed by north & south America then Asia and finally Oceana. I enjoy this challenge as I have to not only know the countries but improve my typing speed in the attempt.

Great quiz. Just wish the map was a little bigger. My friend who introduced this to me memorized the countries alphabetically and can complete it in half the allocated time. But it's a moot point to me since he fails miserably when I ask him to point out a specific one on the map. Hahaha! I prefer to go start from one end and move sequentially from one country to the next. It's not nearly as fast but it's far more educational IMHO.
