You need to specify the UK for the clue about naval ranks. That rank does not exist in the US Navy, nor in many other navies around the world.

What tschutzer said. There is no rank in the US Navy between captain and rear admiral.

Synchronicity
Well, I don't think it's necessary to specify, since there are no other ranks (that I know of) besides commodore that go between the two in other nations, so there's no room for confusion. Since the US has no such rank, it can obviously be assumed that the question is referring to the nations that do.

I disagree. The Us Navy has a Commander Rank and when I first read the question I assumed the person who made the test didn't know the correct rank structure. When that was incorrect I typed Commander again assuming that I had misspelled it by mistake the first time. The confusion wasted time.

And the US Navy DID have that rank at one time.

Amusingly I typed "Commander" for the navy question and got the "commandeer" question right instead. Also there are numerous spellings of hummus including hommus and hommous that probably should be accepted.

I assume most visitors to this site are from the US seeing as it is based in the US (At least in the about section it lists the creators as being from Ann Arbor and Seattle). With that said, questions like this should specify that they are referring to the UK. If the question referred to the "British" Navy it would clear things up quite a bit.

Slight nit -- Lemmings don't actually do that. The Disney movie "White Wilderness" is responsible for the misconception. The director actually threw the poor creatures off the cliff for dramatic effect.

A scrimmage is NOT an unofficial sports match, in most sports, but a practice between two sides of the same team.

Yeah, I failed, didn't get any of the ones that started with 'comm'

I second the "lemmings don't actually do that" comment. Just so's you know.
