Wow, I got about half the US capitals. It's usually not the biggest city in the state, but the most central.
Jun 23, 2010  delete  reply
That's why a lot of folks miss California, Texas, New York, and Florida. Their capitals aren't the most famous cities.

From an outsiders perspective (Australian) it's hilarious that apart from 4 your State capitals bare no significance to the rest of the world (ie no one thinks of them as cities)

I'd be curious as to which 4 you count as significant. I'd count about 10 that are internationally relevant. However, if capitals should be the most significant city, why isn't Sydney the capital of Australia?
Oct 22, 2012  delete  reply
Toad
Denver, Atlanta, Boston, Phoenix would be the 4 that count to an outsider.... Im an Aussie too, and despite getting 100%, these are the only 4 that would be internationally recognised and known.

Interesting, I would have thought Honolulu would have been seen as more relevant than Denver at least, and Sacramento above Phoenix.
Feb 25, 2013  delete
Phoenix, Sacramento, Denver, Atlanta, Honolulu, Indianapolis, Baton Rouge, Boston, Jackson, Albany, Columbus, Oklahoma City, Providence, Nashville, Austin, Salt Lake City, and Richmond are all pretty relevant. In addition to being state capitals (which has nothing to do with size or relevance anyway and is mostly to do with central location), each of these cities are either huge population centers or significant historically, culturally, or in terms of commerce. Regardless of where you were born you ought to know these cities. I would happily forgive you not knowing any of the others.

SJESQ- um, interesting yes, hilarious- not as much as creating a city in the middle of nowhere on a manmade lake to be your capital to ease tensions between Sydney and Melbourne. And I'm Australian :)

Wow, I missed Concord, NH! :( The capitals were originally selected to be located centrally in the state. (Same for Washington DC, at the time it was centrally located in the US). Rather than in the most populous city
