Could you accept "ma'am" for "Hostess of ill repute"?

Sorry, I didn't mean to reply to your comment.

I could be wrong but I think you're thinking of a jig.

I agree re: clue for 'gig'. I thought you meant a music-related job from long ago (lutist? harpsichord tuner?). Didn't make sense to me until I saw the answer.

enits
I'm confused by the clue to "eve". Is that word specifically used for past evenings? Otherwise, great quiz!

Yep..that's true enits... on a separate note - as usual this quiz is too americanized -- pop, redder,..are not often used words in this parts of the world

But even calling it 'american' may be too much of a generalization... check out this map showing the US regional breakdown of terms for carbonated beverages: http://www.popvssoda.com/countystats/total-county.html

Yes, even in America only certain parts of the country say "pop." Others say "soda" and where I live everyone just calls every drink a "coke," despite its brand. Although we don't all say it, we know what someone is talking about if they ask for a "pop."

How about, I drive "a Toyota." It's as good as "race car."

:) So true. My family has always had one Toyota. The other has always been all over the board.
