Virginia was named after Queen Elizabeth I (The Virgin Queen). With the number of heirs Queen Elizabeth II has, I don't think we can easily accept the Virgin Queen as her nickname.

Why do I get the feeling Queen Elizabeth II is either a big mistake or a typo. And waay too many US questions. Also, Rhodesia isn't really a former country, is it? It's a former name of a country. I was thinking like Yugoslavia...

I agree with Mithol, Rhodesia is not a former country, they just changed the name to Zimbabwe. The USSR, Yugoslavia, Czechoslavia, those are former countries.
