Aww, I missed an easy one. Anyway, it's peas & carrots, not carrot & peas. That clue and answer are fine. Command & Conquer is a lesser-known nerd answer (as would be Sin & Punishment), but I think the most common idiomatic ones should be the accepted one. :)

it is peas and carrots....but the clue is carrot (singular) & _______. that being said, i have no idea what carrot and stick is. LOL i also tried command and conquer 1st, and would venture to say it's about as common as divide and conquer. lastly, for discobay, mortar and pestle is that little stone bowl and fat stone stick used to grind stuff, most commonly seen in chemistry labs and small, under-developed villages.
