What a joke. No Al DiMeloa, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Allan Holdsworth, Steve Howe, etc...and Bruce Springsteen ahead of Alex Lifeson? I can't stop laughing
If you have problems with Rolling Stone's list, try mine. I don't expect you to agree with all of it, but at least Springsteen isn't on it. Bluesdjben's 100 Best Guitarists of All Time
yeah - no Michael Schenker, Eric Johnson, John Petrucci, Neal Schon, Steve Lukather, Robin Trower, Gary Moore, George Lynch, Larry Carlton, either. Rolling Stone has zero credibility.
Well, I scored 36/100. I wasn't expecting so many guitarists from before the 60's. Plus, some of our favorites are not on the list. I typed Stevie Ray Vaughn, and I did not get credit, as the quiz wants it spelled Vaughan. Oh well, thanks for the quiz!
A lot of this feel more like: whoever played guitar for the 100 most famous bands. So many great guitarists lose out to just ok guitarists like neil young, keith richards, and bruce springsteen. Those guys are great songwriters instead. Also Eric Clapton has always been my least favorite of the top players. I like a lot of his songs but have never been blown away by him - even as a tasteful slow player he doesn't compare to Knopfler or Gilmour.
