So if you are familiar with Rolling Stone's top anything of all time lists, you know they have little idea what they're talking about, and this list is no exception. Entire genres get snubbed. Plenty of entries on this list aren't metal at all. Big name bands are over-represented, while several others are underrepresented, or the album given isn't even that band's best. Some complete garbage makes the list while much more deserving entries are left off. Business as usual for Rolling Stone.
A few of the more egregious things they left off: Judas Priest - Painkiller, Pantera - Cowboys From Hell, Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark, Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar, Fear Factory (anything, but I'd say Demanufacture or Obsolete), Kamelot - The Black Halo, anything from Blind Guardian, Symphony X (either The Divine Wings of Tragedy or The Odyssey)... the list goes on.
