Nice! Just a suggestion, can you grey out New Mexico, Arizona, and Oklahoma as they weren't states at the time?

Thank you, and yes I can grey them out. Maybe sometime I will replace the black dots with the more common, proportional orange dots too but for now that'll have to wait.

I quite like the black dots actually. They're almost nostalgic at this point as nearly every quiz which used to use them now has orange ones.

Black dots are nice. I used them in my quizzes for three years, until proportional orange ones became more standardised on JetPunk. I like how orange dots give more visual information to quiztakers, but I miss the simplicity of the black dot (until you have two black dots right next to each other, then it looks cluttered).

^ Same - I kind of miss the old dots and now almost everyone uses orange dots. Not saying orange dots are bad (because they fit in pretty nicely with bigger quizzes) but it's sad that the black dots are going away :(

My biggest gripe with the orange dots is finding the right balance between making them not too big or small, as well as making the sizes scale (somewhat?) relatively. I think it's better overall, it's a really cool way to represent population, however.
