"km" is not a measure of area. How is Algeria an empire?

Kilometers. I'm assuming the K is capitalized. You can't blame me, I'm an American.

An empire is defined as an extensive group of states of countries under a single supreme authority formerly especially under an emperor or empress. Algeria may not have an emperor, but it it does comprise an extensive group of ethnically and culturally diverse regions populated by Berbers, Arabs, Tuaregs, White Europeans, Black Africans and other Saharan peoples.

It would be more fun if entering, for example, "China", didn't automatically fill in all Chinese empires. Sure, it's a little difficult, but no more difficult than guessing the Hokati/Tughlaq empires, which I've never heard of in my life.

Nice quiz though. I managed to get 58/100.

Can you add more type-ins, most quizzes will accept UK and Mogul/Moghul? Maybe Nubia or at least just Kush.

Great concept, but it needs a good revision. Seems like "Biggest nations and empires of all time" is a better-fitting title.

Filling in all of the Chinese dynasties under "China" but not the Soviet Union under "Russia" seems absurd. "India" fills a lot of empires geographically related (but not really politically) but Iran doesn't. Would be nice to have a good set of criteria on this.

Also, is the "Land aria" at the maximum extent? Some of the states you listed were bigger at some point in the past. The US had an area of 10.1 million km at the beginning of the 20th century, for example.

Either cite and link your source, or explain your exact definition of "empire" in the description. For example, why is Gran Colombia (2.417 million sq km) not listed? You include short-lived empires like the Macedonians as well as non-monarchist states like Algeria. Was it overlooked?

You also need to standardize your type-in generality. Why does "China" yield every Chinese dynasty, while "India" yields some but not all Indian dynasties (Gupta but not Mauryan, for example), and "Iran" yields only the Achaemenids but not Sasanians, Safavids, Ashfarids, etc. Decide upon a rule for when a general regional/cultural name counts as a type-in, and apply that rule consistently. This rule should be listed in the description.

You also need to accept alternate type-ins for many answers, such as Khwarezmia/Khwarazmia, Sassanid/Sasanian, etc.

Additionally, sizes need to be fixed. Write Sq. Km. instead of Km, and specify in the description that "Maximum estimates of land area are listed."

I definitely would not consider the USSR an empire!

The mode of production, while not perfect, was not capitalist/feudal, the only systems which beget Imperialism. It did not exploit its holdings, and in fact provided equal rights to all Soviet citizens, while providing infrastructure and education, and didn't exploit its workers anywhere close to how they were being exploited under the Tsarist regime, or even to how the Bourgeoisie of the former Soviet Republics exploits them to this day.

Australia's size did not peak at 7.6M km², even though that is the current size

Australia's size actually peaked before 1975, when they owned Papua New Guinea. Their size then was around 8.1M km²
