If the letter Y appears at the end of a country name, then it is used as a VOWEL and is excluded in the hint. If the letter Y appears anywhere else within a country name, then it is used as a CONSONANT and is included in the hint.
That was part of the reason, yes, but to also give a better hint to the people. Since the y can be considered a consonant and a vowel, I used the y specifically. When the y appears at the end of a word, it usually if not always makes the sound of another vowel. This isn't always the case if the y is in the middle of a word. Thnx for taking my quiz!
