These 25 countries together will have a population of 7,366.262,000. That is just 25 countries. Then throw in Iran, Turkey, Japan, Thailand, Saudi Arabia and those other countries that will likely have over 50 million inhabitants. Jeez.

On a sidenote, poor poor Uganda.

For some it is way more than they can handle so population control is encouraged.

OK, I know the last 30 years or so have been the "3rd world's golden age", but I doubt that a poor country's economy can keep up with Africa's or the Indian Subcontinent's population growth. If African or Asian countries had an economy like China's; fast growing and already large, they might be saved, but I don't think they will. I hope they do so good luck to Africans and Asians out there!

No chance Nigeria can hold 700+ million, DRC is not passing Pakistan or Indonesia Tanzania is not going to be ahead of Ethiopia, Niger is not going from 10 to 250 million in 80 years Uganda will just collapse if they have 200 million Egypt should be ahead of Uganda and Niger, Iraq won’t pass Mexico, Kenya can’t hold 150 million, Mozambique. Can’t hold that much population Zambia can’t go from 15 to 100 million in 80 years

Those African countries are going to be screwed if this happens

Especially considering how corruption will prevent development this could mean slums with 10s of millions of people.

This is doubtful. Seriously Niger in the middle of a desert won't hold this much. I could go on but there is too much inaccuracy to point out. Thanks for the source so we at least know your not the madman thinking Uganda and Niger will hold 200 million.

Niger is in the middle of the desert. Good thing it's not on this list.

Update: It's been 7 years since I created this quiz and there's been a lot of changes in projections, particularly with new birth rate data, so I have updated the quiz.

To counter all the fearfulness among folks in the comments: yes, the population is growing, but it's not going to happen forever. What we're experiencing on the global scale right now is mostly the "catch up" from previous generations having lots of kids.

If your great-great-grandparents each had 5 kids for example, and each of their kids had 3, that's a lot of population growth that's going to happen even if your grandparents and parents and yourself only have 2. Because it takes decades for the wider populations to move through the population pyramid.

In fact, we have nearly reached the point of "peak child" (the time in history with the highest number of children on earth). (By nearly reached I mean we're at about that number, 1.9 billion. It may be decades before we technically hit the peak but the number itself won't be much higher.)

That said, some of the countries on this list are growing very fast, and some still have very high fertility rates… But on the global scale, we're starting to approach a plateau. Maybe the amount of people on this list is unsustainable; I don't know.

But the growth won't go on forever (probably).
