A few surprises to me. Mexico was a complete random guess. On the other hand, I tried Namibia three times - was sure, that there would be a big desert.
True, but the Namib Desert is just a long strip going across Namibia which is too little to get into this list. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Deserts_of_Mexico gives a fair few deserts surprisingly!
Just wondering, what constitutes a "sandy desert"? The deserts of America/Mexico aren't particularly sandy, and based on the pictures I've seen, neither are the deserts of Australia. I wonder if "arid desert" or "hot desert" would be a better descriptor (the former term is mentioned on this Wikipedia page and the latter I think is a good term to distinguish them from polar deserts).
Great quiz! Would love to see the percentage of arid desert land of each of the countries featured (I believe Saudi Arabia is over 99% desert for example).
