Based off of Rotten Tomatoes Top 100 Movies of All-Time. All chosen movies have over 40 critic reviews, therefore making them eligible for this list. The release years of the movies are given.
You could improve the quiz by adding type-ins. For instance, not having to type "the" at the beginning of the answers. There is a button in the quiz creating screen that you hit and it will apply the common JetPunk type-ins.
Was thinking the same thing. Not sure how you have a list like this that includes so many subpar sequels, without the original (and generally better) movies (i.e., Toy Story 4, Incredibles 2, Paddington 2, Star Wars Episodes 7 and 8). Not to say that any of these were bad movies, but none of them should be anywhere close to a top 100 list (I could see Toy Story or Toy Story 2, and Star Wars or Empire Strikes Back). Also, definitely needs more type-ins. I couldn't believe The Godfather was in there but Godfather 2 was not (tried typing it in several ways before assuming that this asinine list just didn't include it). Also, War for the Planet of the Apes, La La Land, and Zootopia made this list, but no Schindler's List or Shawshank Redemption?
The entire list is based off of the Rotten Tomatoes top 100 movies list so take that with a grain of salt. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/top/bestofrt/
Additionally, these are entirely based off of critic reviews, not taking into account audience opinion.
I also see the list as very inept. I could potentially create a better version of this quiz, still using the subpar Rotten Tomatoes statistics, but taking into account audience approval and amount of reviewers instead of only using the statistics of a few hundred critics. I'm fairly positive a massive change would be seen, as movies such as Shawshank have over 250,000 ratings with a 98% approval rating.
On a different note, a realistic quiz of the "Top 100 Movies", in my opinion, is essentially impossible to create. You can always look at stats, like box office, critics reviews, and/or audience reviews but there are just too many different factors you have to take into account while looking at what the "greatest" movies are.
When adding type-ins, please, accept "dwarfs" for "dwarves" in "snow white and the aforementioned very short people".
also, I do agree with you and all commenters that the list is somewhat weird. For comparison, the top 100 list from IMDB, while having its own downsides, feels much less weird, probably due to the huge base of voters.
And anyway "Black Panther" could not even make it in the top 20 list of MCU movies IMHO, let alone being #5 in this one.
