now this is a hard quiz. The countries and capitals seperately you just had to memorize the names but not the associations. As well this one really got me to get the spelling right. Like it is "brasilia" not "brazilia".

Got 137 first try, 164 second, 185 third, and finally all 196 on my 4th try with 2:39 to spare.

The capital of Sri Lanka is not Colombo, it's Sri Jayawardenapura kotte. Burma is no longer called Burma, but Myanmar, so if you're not going to change it, Myanmar should at least be acceptable.

193 on third try. This is tough. You have to go through the map in your head. It's really easy to miss a country hear or there, especially in NW Africa and SE Europe. Great quiz and I like the strict spelling rules - teaches me to spell correctly.

I love this quiz. I've seem to gotten good enough to finish with around 8 minutes left on a consistent basis. I think to improve from there I'll need to work on my typing skills more than my knowledge of countries and their capitals. I find myself frequently having to go back and fix typos, so I'm sure I could shave off probably a minute or two with better accuracy of typing.

One suggestion for the quiz. Would it be possible to accept the answers in the form "city, country" in addition to "country city"? I'm so used to typing the city first that I find it awkward to type it the way this quiz requires to get the answers correct. Just a suggestion. I know it would probably be a lot of work making that change.

Thanks so much for making this quiz! Some things that confused me: sri jayawardenepura kotte should be accepted, as well as eswatini. Also, how do I enter Democratic Republic of the Congo? I tried several different iterations but never succeeded. I finally was able to get Republic of the Congo when I put in "Congo Republic" which was confusing.

You might want to change Astana to Nur-Sultan and Macedonia to North Macedonia according to JetPunk standards (while accepting the former as type-ins). Personally I refer to these by their 'former' official names, but still.

Level 33

I created this stricter quiz because i wanted the challenge of learning the spelling as well as the Countries & Capitals and thought others might too. I could eventually get through it within the time allotted but had to practice quite a bit first. :)

Level 68
Jul 25, 2022
I really like it that you only accept the correct spellings, it has improved my knowledge so much.
+1
Level 72
Jul 25, 2022
Asking strict spelling is fine but absolutely requires a note to that effect. You can't just decide to go against site-wide convention and not tell anyone unless they happen to ask in the comments. That's rude.

Probably more to the point, though, not all type-ins are about spelling. I imagine almost no one can spell Guinea, but not Papua New Guinea, for example, but the later is nice to abbreviate to PNG for the sake of not needing to type as much.

Then, as many have already said, you really should accept Capital, Country in addition to Country, Capital. That is not only not about spelling, it's also just a more correct way of saying the name.

Plus, there's a level of guessing as to what you arbitrarily decided counts as "stricter". One could waste quite a lot of time (very in-demand in this particular quiz) trying to figure out why an answer was wrong only to discover they didn't type it the way you decided was correct.

+1
Level 49
Jul 18, 2020
Yes, I believe more type-ins would be nice. It would help if you were able to type capital before country, not just country before capital. It would be easier for many people.

If you insist on 'Bandar Seri Begawan' and 'Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte' then why do you allow other shortened versions? Bosnia, St Kitts, St Vincent, Trinidad, Antigua, CAR, etc. If you want your quiz to be full names add 5 mins and only allow complete spellings. Either that or allow type-ins because at the moment it seems completely arbitrary. That being said I do really like this quiz and have taken it dozens of times for fun.

Huh, this was intense, but I got there with half a minute to spare. Admittedly, I had to cheat and google the correct spelling of Naypyidaw, and I kept trying to write South Tarawa (I'm honestly still not entirely sure whether you need the South part even after googling it). But this is definitely a good quiz to come back to after I've maxed out the featured world capitals quiz - there I kept noticing that I accidentally remembered the order of the capitals instead of which country they belonged to after so many tries - here that's not gonna be a problem.

Hi, nice quiz to catch you on your spelling errors.

Some things to fix:

- Kazkahstan's capital city is 'Astana', not 'Nur-Sultan'. The name changed in 2022.

- Czechia should be accepted for Czech Republic, both are correct, Czechia is preferred by the Czech government.

Maybe add a map too ;)
