Roald Amundsen (a Norwegian) led the first team to reach the South Pole in 1911, so it seems fair that they should claim a bit!

According to the Antarctic Treaty website (and the CIA) Brazil is a "consultative member-nation" of the Antarctic Treaty but not actually a claimant to any territory.
