Yowza, this is hard. And as a side note, I think that just about every level in lost levels can be described as hell, but if you say that C-3 specifically is hell, then uhh...
I think every main series Mario game is a fantastic game. Really, all of them. And then there's the lost levels...
It added nothing new besides poison mushrooms, springs that force you to control off screen, and wind (three things that just make the game worse in my opinion). The level design is seriously some Kazio stuff and I'm not sure how the developers went from the amazing design of the original to this garbage. C-3 is bad, and probably the hardest level, but the biggest offender has to be the level that loops until you find an invisible block to progress (not sure what level that was...7-2 maybe?). I do not like the Lost Levels. I think it's a bad game and the ONLY bad mainline Mario game. So yes, I agree that the whole game could be described as hell.
