Total Number? Okay that is indeed a number. However, this quiz was obviously designed to make large cities look bad. Let's see now... New York City had over 8,405,837 million people and had 418 murders. That's oh, LESS THAN ONE for every 20,000 people. The population in 2012 of Oakland was 390.724 and had 126 murders thats one for every 3100 people. Making it significantly more dangerous. But of course, we need to make New York and Chicago sound scary not all these southern and western cities that have out of control murder PERCENTAGES. Bottom Line - a lot more likely to be murdered in Oakland than New York.

First, calm down. Also, as a life-long resident of Chicago, there are safe parts of town, but the attention is warranted. Englewood, for example, covers a 3 mile radius and has had over 150 (accounted for) murders within the past 5 years. Yeah, Oakland sucks, but if it had the same layout as Chicago, the results would be similar. Bottom Line - murder is murder and it will suck either way
