I usually like to make quizzes that are, for the most part, in some way objective. Though I have several ideas for quizzes based on personal opinion. This is one. I may publish more.
To get the quiz down to 50 top answers I took off:
Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw
Michael B Jordan as Killmonger
Will Arnett as Lego Batman
and Jessica Alba as Nancy Callahan
I was tempted to put on Chris Evans for his role in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which was great, but it was a pretty minor role and he's already on the quiz twice.
I also wasn't sure if it would be better to do a blind list without clues for this, or like this with the yellow box. I went with this format to try and avoid some complaints about the criteria being arbitrary.
I thought that the portrayals by Maguire, Garfield, and Holland all captured different aspects of the character well, but honestly Holland's is my least favorite. The interview with Stan that I saw on the subject he said that Toby would always be his favorite.
I totally forgot to roll my screen down and do the worst ones ...duh.. but I must say, I literally just watched Justice League movie yesterday and I actually liked Jason Momoa as aquaman. Since my only experience with aquaman was from the superfriends cartoons I watched in the early 80s and he was really lame, I liked the different take on the character.
I also didn't hate Leto as the joker. Was supremely disappointed with the movie but think if given the chance and they didn't cut his role to shreds Letos joker could have been pretty cool. Anyway loved this quiz!
A lot of people like Momoa. And I don't dislike him in other things. I just personally thought he was all wrong for this role. As far as Leto goes I think I've got more popular support for that one.
True. Ezra Miller did not fit a Barry Allen character at all for me. Jason Momoa was pretty good, they could have done much worse. He isn't serious enough sometimes, especially in modern movies, which really messed with his casting for me. I think I like him too much to see him as the character that Aquaman is in the comics.
If I ever update this again Brie Larson is definitely going to make it in to the worst cast list... good grief she was awful. Actually I think I'll put her on right now and just expand it from 8 worst to 10 worst.
and now 2 years later I think I am forced to concede that Tom Holland may be the best casting choice to play Spider-Man yet. Though I still like Maguire and Garfield. But he and Brolin/Thanos are probably the 2 more curious omissions on the quiz in its current form.
Note to self: if I ever update this again, be sure to include Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster in the worst column, maybe expand to 10 worst. What were they thinking? Putting aside the big changes to the character, they cast a Ukrainian-French ex-model, known for being so phenomenally gorgeous that she made Mila Kunis look like the ugly sister in Max Payne, in a role as a hideous burn victim that stays masked in a body-concealing outfit through 98% of her screen time? And on top of that, in a movie with a bunch of non-Russian actors pretending to speak Russian, they decided that the best use of Olga, who was born in the Soviet Union, was to give her no lines? Just bizarre. Worst casting decision in the MCU since Brie Larson; and the worst waste of an actor/character's potential since Ben Kingsley in Iron Man 3.
On the other hand Florence Pugh as Yelena might deserve a spot under best.

... Brandon Routh was awesome in that movie, too.
