Night at the Roxbury and, to a lesser extent, Ladies' Man are fun, given how goofy and stupid they are. The acting is terrible and the plots are really contrived, but they have their moments. I don't know that I'd recommend them to anyone, but I didn't leave them with the same sense of regret and self-loathing the accompany the likes of Coneheads, It's Pat, and Superstar, which are basically war crimes.
::chuckle:: well I don't begrudge anyone their enjoyment of any media no matter how much I might detest it myself (I have different feelings about some of the people who produce said media; looking at you, Michael Bay, Rian Johnson, Kathleen Kennedy, Nickelback). I guess to each his own... I thought Coneheads was at least 10x better than The Ladies' Man. And just below we've got an It's Pat fan. Fun whenever you spot one of those rare creatures in the wild.
Personal guilty pleasures I have very much enjoyed but am not sure I would recommend to anyone include the films Leonard part 6, Transformers the Movie (1986), Mortal Kombat (1995), and the musical stylings of T.a.T.u. and Rammstein. I also thought The Blair Witch Project was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen even though (or actually because) it sucked as a horror film. That gives me an idea for a quiz but I'll have to think of more examples.
I think I was 15. Is that still young enough to be a valid excuse?
I was 7 when The Transformers animated movie came out. But I still think that's objectively a better film than any of the Michael Bay live-action ones.
