You say "last name only" but give no credit for "Strauss".

I tried typing in "Strauss" TWICE ... and was surprised to get NO credit for it on either occasion!! And then I read that the only other comment posted was for the same problem ... and you said you were going to fix this... Have you done so? Please do and thanks!

Strauss has been a problem from the beginning! Haha. I lost my password for the site, and I haven't opened it in a long time, that is why I was unable to change the names. Do you know how to edit a quiz?

Very random and subjective answers, that really need to have clues to help identify them. I typed in a whole bunch of major composers who are not up there: Purcell, Elgar, Delius, Berg, Schoenberg, Webern etc etc. And by Williams, you mean John Williams of movie theme fame? He hardly belongs on this list before any of the others I mentioned.

The point of the quiz to show how many classical composers you know, so they do not need clues. Williams is Vaughn Williams, and all of the composers you named will be put once I know how to edit my quizzes. Do you know?? Thank you for your feedback.

There are millions of composers. You must have a criteria which to include and which not.

Vaughn Williams should be spelled Vaughan Williams

Yes. Quizmaster has spelled his name wrong. Vaughn Williams should not be accepted but Vaughan should!

How did you select this particular group of composers?

Nice to see some lesser-known ones on there ^_^ Just one issue: the correct spelling is "Vaughan Williams". :)

Missed Holst, Paganini, Satie... Between others. Anyway, great quiz!

Any more American composers - I was pretty surprised by no Gershwin or Barber. The omission of Holst and Britten is puzzling as well. I also thing de Falla and Albéniz should be included.

I would hardly call Schoenberg or Copeland classical composers?

Schoenberg and Copland pushed classical music into the mid-20th century. If they are not to be called classical composers, then we must also omitt Ligeti, Stravinsky, Berg, Weber, and every other of his contemporaries and composers of serial music

Just saying, the choice of the composers in the quiz is quite subjective, and although it is good fun to play to kill time, it seems quite inappropriate if you want this quiz to be nominated. Plus, the title says "classical music composers" yet there are a mix of Baroque, Classical, Romantic and even some Modern era composers.

Most people know what is meant when the term "classical music" is used in a general context. Of course, the strictly classical era of music has its own identity and style, exemplified by the music of Haydn, Mozart and early Beethoven. I have recently submitted a number of quizzes labeled "classical music." They include questions about music from medieval times through the 20th century. (Labeling music of the 20th century as 'contemporary' is obviously a misnomer!) The problem is simple--there is no perfect label! I used to tell my students in music appreciation classes that I would prefer the term "art music" but I don't think the rest of the world took my suggestion!
