Same. I've been in Cameroon once and you could buy bananas everywhere on the street. Now that country might be still too small, but I'd definitely expect countries like Nigeria and DR Congo on this list.
In hindsight some obvious ones on here - due to their sheer size China etc would likely produce a high amount of bananas - but they didn’t come to mind at all at first ‘cause I was trying all the African and South American countries...
Interesting. I live in the southwestern USA but almost every banana I've ever eaten has an Ecuador or Guatemala sticker on it. Perhaps most of Mexico's bananas are not being exported. Or, maybe just the way supply chains work.
I always used to think that bananas originate from Africa because gorillas eat them but it turns out that they originate from Asia and only captive gorillas eat them.
