About Polls
Polls or surveys are questionnaires that many people take to show an average public opinion among many people. For example, if you ask 100 people if they live in houses or apartments, 46 might say houses, and 54 apartments, meaning only 46% of the asked population lives in a house.
Displaying Polls
A bar chart is a graphical representation used to display and compare discrete categories of data through rectangular bars, where the height of each bar is proportional to the frequency of that answer in the given poll
Why Should We Add Them To JetPunk?
-They would be fun to make and make their creators more known
-It would increase site traffic, making it a poll website as well as charts, blogs, and mostly quizzes
-They would be interesting to view
-They would enhance the overall experience on JetPunk
-They would help in learning about people and what we like
How would we do it?
A new polls section could be added near blogs and charts, and a pool editor where the pollmaker would add the questions and answers, for the taker, it would probably be Similar to taking a multiple choice quiz. The finished polls could then be added as visuals for blogs the way charts are now.
Is it Possible?
I'm not amazing at coding, but I believe it would be pretty simple to similarly replicate the code from an online poll website. For the format of the poll the multiple choice quiz format would probably work, it seems like a completely possible option for a new feature on JetPunk
1. Yes, they would increase community interaction and provide some fun
2. No, they would have absolutely 0 impact on traffic. Charts and Blogs currently bring 0 additional traffic to JetPunk, and the only users using them are the same small set of users.
3. Given the majority of the users would be the same as the blog section, it means most polls would be created from younger users. This, to me, does not mean they would be interesting to view at all.
4. I don't think they have any impact whatsoever on the JetPunk experience as a whole.
5. I don't see how that's relevant to JetPunk.
Overall, polls would be easy to add. If we felt it would be something that would actually benefit JetPunk, it would've been done already. But frankly, it'll do nothing and most likely all polls will get less than like 30-40 votes (similar number of unique views blogs get). For this reason, the results would not be interesting, useful or even significant.
