I think you have to go with either the O'Jays or the Isley Brothers, although admittedly the first bands I thought of were Bone Thugs and Hawthorne Heights. Haha.
Both of the Nevada bands have close ties to Utah. Imagine Dragons started in Provo, and my understanding is that Brandon Flowers has sold his Las Vegas home and is living in Park City full-time now.
Dave Matthews Band is not so bad. They are crazy talented musicians, particularly the drummer, who is among the vanguard of his craft. I think people judge them too harshly because their fanbase is largely insufferable, but if you can separate the music from the fans, you're left with a decent jam band composed of individual musicians who can flat-out play. You could do a lot worse. I mean...Chris Brown is from Virginia.
I got them all without guessing except for the Isley Brothers and Twenty-One Pilots, which I got on my first guess because it was the most populous state I could think of that had not already appeared. Fun idea for a quiz and good selections. Would love a shout-out to Arizona with Jimmy Eat World and the Gin Blossoms.
John Denver didn't write the song, and the man who did had never been to West Virginia! Also, looking at the lyrics, all those places are in the West of Virginia, not West Virginia, lol.
He’s kind of “from” nowhere, as he was a military brat and his family moved constantly growing up. He went to college in Texas I think, tried settling in Minnesota, and only wound up moving to Aspen, CO when he was nearly 30. But he did live there for the rest of his life, so I think it works fine in this quiz, considering the quiz’s description espn the answers are the states “most associated” with the given musical acts, not that they technically have to be “from” there.
There are a LOT of impressive bands from Ohio!
