@JFK I hadn't realized Sinbad was from anywhere in the real world. By the time I got around to trying to figure out where he was from I didn't have enough time to go through every likely country.

Okinawa has been under Japanese control since 1609 and was officially annexed by Japan in 1872. Miyagi is old but he isn't that old.
