100%. I would argue that, despite this being an American quiz site, the subject - Wally - is a British creation and therefore Wally ought to be the default answer here.
It took me ages to recall that silly Americanism - why do they so frequently have to change it purely for the sake of changing it..? *cough* Philosopher's Stone *cough*.
Why can't you British Jetpunkers ever just get over things like this? lol. It's such a weird thing to care SO much about how Americans do things, what Americans call things, soccer vs football. Who cares? Not a single American who grew up with Where's Waldo for the last several decades gives a hoot how "silly" you think their norm is or care about what the original was called, and why should they? That's what they grew up with.
You know what's interesting, too? I've actually never heard an American, ever, react badly to learning that you Brits have a different word for something. In fact, Americans are usually amused by the differences...lift vs elevator, boot vs trunk, etc. That's all. We think it's interesting and kinda cool and we move on. And American movie titles, etc are CONSTANTLY completely changed in other countries to fit the language and the culture better. No one here cares. It's such a strange, divisive, insecure fixation you all seem to have across the pond.

The problem is not that you name things differently. The problem is that you keep using your locally adapted name in global forums as if it was the main usage. This is particularly irritating when the original is clearly another.
It's not a matter of Britain vs US. Wally is still named Wally for the Malay, the Portuguese, the Dutch, the Catalan, the Romanian, the Spanish or the Polish speakers.
It makes no sense that that this test has Waldo as the main entry for the character.
I'm neither American nor British. I don't care what word is used as the default answer, as long as all reasonable answers are accepted as type-ins. Since most of the world calls it "Where's Wally?", Wally should be accepted. The request wasn't to disallow Waldo or de-Americanize the answer, so I'm not sure what you're ranting about, Pearl2270.
Why can't some people understand that just because a few people winge about this and a few more agree that all Brits think that way? I don't think all Americans are small minded and prejudiced just because Pearl made this comment
I agree about changing names. My daughter was in London when the Harry Potter books were just coming out. I had her buy me a copy of the first book with its "real" name.
I believe Worf, played by Michael Dorn, is the character that holds the record for most appearances in Star Trek (film and TV). They did manage to streamline the process, but Dorn did it all in make up that took hours to apply.
