Shouldn't it be "a LOTR geek"? Isn't "nerd" a generally excentric, out-of-touch-in-anintellectual-way person, rather than a passionate devotee of one particular highly specific topic? (asks a non-native person)
Regardless of whatever the dictionary definitions of nerd and geek are, the two terms are pretty much used interchangeably, mainly down to personal preference.
You know you've got a lot of dorks on this site when you get 21/25 on a test like this and that score isn't as good as half the people who took the test.
well, who is Gwaihir the Windlord? I don't think he was ever mentioned in any of the movies, or maybe if he was his name was incomprehensible and/or his title was not mentioned. But I'm sure they mentioned Lembas bread several times. You even have that bit of repetition when Sam is complaining about it being all they had to eat, which makes it easier to remember.
Good point. Gwaihir was barely mentioned in the trilogy, but he did have an important scene in the Hobbit when the eagles rescued the company from the orcs and worgs in the mountains. And I just thought the idea of being flown around by eagles was pretty cool, so it stuck in my head.
erebor and orodruin are still type ins for the wrong answer and i think 'precious should also be accepted instead of my precious otherwise really enjoed the quiz
Great quiz! The only thing I should change is that Lorien should be accepted. Also, lembas is not "magical". It has great virtues, but it is not magical. Magic is a word that Tolkien avoided. I would make the hint " waybread of the Elves," but I guess I am just being picky.
Isn't Bilbo really Frodo's cousin, not his uncle? I know he was referred to as his uncle in the movies, but I'm pretty sure he was identified as his cousin in the books.
Gandalf is so iconic it is hard to believe quizmaster post the wrong one by accident.
But yea it is odin, he even has only the one eye. I knew this picture allready, though it always reminds me of radagast! And I expected a question about him after seeing the pic. Only after your comment I remembered, ow yea it was odin.

Man, I thought I did pretty well scoring 22/25. I pulled some names from some seldom used neurons in the dusty corners of my brain, and was approaching pride in those recollections. Then got hit with the middling score of 3. There are some serious Stephen Colbert level LOTR nerds on this site!
SUCH A NERD!!!
XD
100%
Well, I am a nerd.
And an LOTR fan.
(Yet somehow I didn't get what LOTR meant first time I heard it.)
NERD NERD NERD!!
Awesome nerd power!
Woo!
Curiously, the guy in the picture is not Gandalf (as it should/was intended to (?) be). It's Odin, the Wanderer, by Georg von Rosen.
