Methodology

The exclusive source for this quiz is citypopulation.de. Main source are cp's country-specific sites about urban areas, agglomerations and so on.

In case such a site does not exist:

- For OECD members (e.g. Italy), the OECD's definition of a Functional Urban Area and its included municipalities (found here) has been used.

- For Non-OECD members (e.g. Turkey) or FUAs not included in the above list, cp's country-specific sites about cities (in some cases municipalities) have been used, with cities in close proximity having been grouped together. Please note that this grouping is somewhat subjective, although I tried to be as neutral as possible.

Urban areas with less than 50,000 inhabitants are excluded.
