Are we just going to ignore 1962 Wilt with 50.4 points per game AVERAGE? After Wilt's 50.4 and 44.8 seasons, the next closest to even 40 was Jordan with 37.1.
In the NBA there really are a handful of players that completely stick out compared to the rest of the people playing at the time. Wilt is definitely one of them.
He was a stat padder, his teams did better when he was just playing without trying to score as much as he possibly could, or without un-needingly passing just to get assists. He was a great player, but he only won two titles in part to his own selfishness.
This is the narrative built up because Chamberlain was loud, arrogant, and flashy, and Russell was quiet and polite, but it's wrong. Look at the stats. He dominated Russell head-to-head but he rarely had talent around him. When he did, he won titles.
