South Carolina’s northern borders seem to follow Appalachia’s dividing line. In nearby North Carolina or Tennessee you can find streams that empty out into the Mississippi, but all water below the state line empty’s into other eastwardly river systems. South Carolinian water never empty’s into the Ohio river or any other source going west.
